    Actually uncertain at the moment.

    BBC forecast here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/19650773

Could be dry or on the other hand, potentially heavy rain. Be prepared!

GFS model currently leaning towards a very rainy day, while UKMO and ECMWF are unsure.

    UPDATE _ Wed 19 Sep 2012 _ 9:20 p.m.

The European model output is now showing a severe storm potential for Ireland on Sunday into Monday
I wonder was an All Ireland Final ever cancelled due to the weather?

Not that I'm aware of, and certainly not in modern times.

The 1939 All Ireland hurling final is famously known as the "thunder and lightening" final, but tough men that they were, they played through it :D

It was on 3rd September 1939 - don't suppose anyone can get a weather report from that day ?

wiki page on that final http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-Ireland_Senior_Hurling_Championship_1939

Weather forecasts were forbidden which inconvenienced both farmers and fishermen.

Anyway Sunday should be good for the match. It's later than the storm threatens.

    Could go either way now.

Jean Byrne just gave 2 possible outcomes.

They can't pin it down yet either.

It will either be very wet and windy or miss us.

12Z UKMO has any rain well to the south during the day on Sunday. Could miss us and head into southern England and NW France. Mentioned as a possible scenario on the weather forecast after the 9pm news.

I think it will miss us and skirt the Southeast of Ireland then impacting Britain in the main. Monday and Tuesday will be wet though

Yeah tis sure to miss as only ECM showing wet. All could be revealed in the morning

Well hows it looking now..met eireann saying this morning its going to be wet...feck the rain anyway..

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭pauldry

it will be wet for the match and wet for the celebrations in mayo but then again both of those predictions are uncertain.

met eireanns most recent on line forecast has sunday a mostly dry day over leinster, cloudy in the main with some sunny spells and a chance of some light showers.

so on the whole pretty good for the game. fingers crossed.

    up mayo!!
