Baby on the way in a few weeks so need to get a cot. We don't have the space for a cot bed as we are in an apartment. We have looked at IKEA but thought they looked a bit cheap.

Just wondering what shops you would recommend in Dublin or even online?

if you are stuck for space maybe use a travel cot as the cot?
    We love the travel cot:)
Kiddicare.com is where we bought all our baby stuff but the euro and pound were on par then and irish prices have come down a bit since.
Mothercare is of course worth a look,Ikea cots are fine,Euro baby, hugz babystore.
They all have online stores too.

We thought about getting a travel cot but we'd like something more solid ie wooden and we don't plan to stay in the apartment much longer.

We bought a load of baby furniture - including crib & cot bed - at Murphy's Pram & Nursery in Rathcoole ( www.murphysprams.ie/ ). Very friendly and helpful staff.

We have since bought furniture and loads of other baby stuff in Tony Kealy's, Walkinstown ( www.tonykealys.com/ ). Also very friendly and helpful staff.

Would recommend either of the above.

We got our cot in Ikea. It definitely was cheaper but seems quite sturdy and it doesn't take up much space (our bedroom is small). They are very plain but once I had it set up with bedding it looked great.

They can be used as toddler beds when baby old enough so we got their most expensive mattress (120) so it will do him til he needs a proper bed.

Bought our first cot in Smyths... it's the Manhattan cot bed... huge... but don't think they stock it any more.

we got a sidecar style cot from mothercare. one of the long sides can be dropped and slides underneath. it doesn't have any proper attachments to put it to the side of the bed, but we have a solid bed frame and the other side of the cot is pushed up against the wall so it's not going anywhere. we had a divan bed on wheels before though which wasn't ideal for beside the cot, we had to use various ways to make sure we were happy it was safe and wouldn't move.
it's expensive enough but we got it as a very generous gift.
it was great to be able to have the baby right beside the bed after he outgrew the moses basket. he's still beside us now :)

Got ours from Smyth's too. But if you need reassurance from helpful staff, then Murphy's Rathcoole would be it.

We got an Ikea one that becomes a bed. It's perfect for us as the room is quite small. We got a good mattress and our son loves it. I put some of his teddies in there when he was old enough that it was safe.

Argos do some good ones as does Littlewoods, cotbeds are huge but well worth it in the long term unless you plan on getting a cute toddler bed in the form of a princess bed or car but if not then they may cost more on the get go but for the length of time they last well worth it

We did have a mosses basket in the beginning which I found very handy as it could be upstairs or down when he was napping, also for 50euro in mothercare you really cant go wrong it really worked for us, and then he went into a cot when he was 3/4mths old

We got our cot in ikea an its perfect, very sturdy, when put together. We got the mattress there too but paid a bit extra for it as the cot turns into toddler bed too and wanted it to last.. Its perfect for the cot and my son sleeps the nite an loves his cot.

another ikea fan here with their most expensive mattress. she loves it won't actually sleep anywhere else. We've stayed in 5 hotels now with her and the night we return when you ly her in her on coat she does a little squirm to check its hers and then a big smile cause she knows its her own cot.

Its really sturdy and doesn't look cheap at all in person, it does online but not in real life.
