Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Raw/dry premium denim in Dublin

I've been looking in vain for bricks and mortar stores in Dublin that stock boutique raw denim brands with no luck. I have in mind brands like Momotaro, Iron Head, Samurai, Denham, etc. There are a good few online retailers in Europe/the US but buying online without trying is very hit and miss, and costly if you're returning stuff.

Is anyone aware of anywhere, even in Ireland generally, that stocks such brands?

Second, tangential question, does anywhere in Dublin carry APC?

    Thanks.

What about Nudie? They're 100% cotton. You can get them in Urban Outfitters.

I'm fairly certain Brown Thomas on Grafton Street has APC.

You won't get any of those brands here, Ireland is brutal and embarrassingly bad for mens clothing, your better off buying online.
The easiest thing to do is find a pair of jeans that fit you well and take the measurements and compare to those of the one you are interested in. Email the shop, most will answer any of your questions and will know your size from measurements you give.
Genius in Dublin do Edwin, id take a look at them if you want to buy local, Nudie are no better than basic Levis plus they have that ugly stitching on the rear pockets.
APC you can just buy from any shop in the UK or Europe, sign up for the stores news letters, there are always promotions on % off or free shipping so returns won't be so bad.

Brown Thomas in Dublin do APC, I got a shirt there a few months back. Just one rail so not exactly a big selection. Last time I checked it was downstairs opposite the underwear.

Try mrporter.com for jeans, they have lowered postage and collect returns for free.

Thanks for the replies, I was mainly looking for the brands I listed, and wanted to take a look at APC. Not mad about Nudies. I was already planning on checking out Edwin at Genius, although I understand they're the Japanese equivalent of Levi's.

Overall, the problem with just taking measurements and buying unseen is that you have no real idea of the fit of the particular jeans until you try them on. You may know they are slim or skinny, but each designer has their own take on those styles, so ideally I'd like to try them on first.

Great tip on Mr Porter, I'd seen their site but had no idea they did free returns.

It is embarrassing how poor a selection there is available here. I've just been in Vancouver which isn't much bigger than Dublin and the selection there is much better. Not just in large stores, but in terms of small boutiques that specialise in an area. I should have bought more! I purchased a pair of Naked & Famous and love them, but would like to get my hands on some of the premium Japanese brands.

Just looking at Edwins on Mr Porter out of curiosity, they seem priced a good bit above the Genius online store. One pair (ED71) is 130 euro on Mr Porter, and 100 euro on the Genius store.

RAW Edwin are more in line with APC or better, their washes are miles ahead of Levis too. Mr Porter will go to 50% off in the sales and there are usually plenty of Edwins still there.

If N&F fit you then just stick with them, they have loads of options inc some Japanese Heritage if your interested in something more substantial. The problem with premium denim is it can be very heavy so you may not find it comfortable to wear all the time.

What cut in N&F did you get? It's pretty easy to know what will work if you take the measurements of them and compare to others. Everyone has their own take alright but generally it's 3 cuts skinny, slim and straight. The differences will be in the rise, thigh, hem etc. I buy all my clothes online, once you know your measurements and those of the clothes it's hard to go wrong.

I'm only interested in raw at the moment, so I'll check out the Edwins, and APC.

I got the N&Fs in the Weird Guy fit, but on my last day I tried on a different colour in skinny guy, which I loved even more. They just didn't have my size in the colour I liked.

As regards the heavier Denim, the brands I'm looking at aren't substantially heavier than N&F, with the exception of Iron Heart, at 21oz. But all the reviews say that the long fibre Zimbabwean cotton they use on those makes them very comfortable.

Went to have a look in Genius and BT, the selection is appallingly poor. BT have only one style out of a possible 5 in APC , Genius only have 2 of the raw Edwins out of about 8.

Both shops only carry the regular, loose fitting style. Nothing in slim or skinny.

    I am disappoint.

Has the selection for raw denim improved in Dublin? Indigo and Cloth was a previous recommendation but they don't have any.
