Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I can't believe what he gets on the scratcher!

    Dole payment
    Mortgage Allowance
    Property Tax exemption
    Medical Card
Back to School money for the kids
    Child benefit
    Fuel allowance

I assume how will also be exempt from the water tax when it comes in too.

He motor is nicer than mine and 6 years newer, he is always in the boozer and dressed to the 9's.

Meanwhile I get raped by the left wing loonies here who think that if you work hard you should be punished for making a bit of money.

As an aside, isn't it amazing that the communist terrorist party, Sinn Fein, insists that the rich should pay more (please define rich by the way you marxist muppets) because they are able to.

Well, in the same vein, why can't people who are "able" to work, be put to work, rather than getting paid to watch Jeremy Kyle? How about working for your "entitlements" for a change?

Maybe I can ghost write "Dole for Dummies" and make a piggin' fortune.

how come all the working people who claim that life on the dole amounts to an unreal amount of benifits package, never EVER give up the job for life on the dole.

I was talking to someone yesterday and his neighbour tells him he gets a €20 a week call credit allowance, yet man is up in arms over it shouting that it's a disgrace. Some people believe everything, feckin ejits.

I don't deign to watch Jeremy Kyle, prefer to download documentaries and some porn for the occasional **** while relaxing.
This has given me a bad back as I am into Yoga **** therefore I receive a free travel pass to visit the local pubs and do an occasional shift - sometimes work, sometime just the barmaid.
So OP, hows the working life ?

    c. On the dole
    d. A Masochist who likes seeing half his pay packet taken by the government

    I'm on the dole.
I can tell you it's not as glamorous as it seems.
For example, I have to be actually sick to go to a doctor.
    Disgusting, I know.

I also get fuel allowance but TBH, I don't use it. I'm happy enough spending it all on the old hash than trying to keep the house about 2 degrees.

Anyway OP, you don't know every detail about this man. Maybe he deserves it all or maybe he's a lying fecker. Just report him if you have a good reason to. Hint: because his life is better than mine is not a good enough reason.

He is one of my good mates.

No person deserves all that dole.

By the way, how do you know his life is better than yours?

Some people here are very touchy about the dole they receive - speaks volumes really.

Sheesh - you just make one comment about wanting to write a book and you get all this criticism. I feel for Joyce, Yeats and Beckett.

There is only a finite amount of possible work to be done. There is a finite supply of potential workers. The potential workers are split into two groups: workers and non-workers.
The workers, given the advances in technology and expanding population, will (either now or at some point in the future) be able to do all the work. In order for the non-workers to then work, some of the workers must do less work.

The only way they might be willing to do this is if the reward for not working were sufficiently close to the reward for working. Then they would work less and the non-workers could do some work.

There's a fluidity issue because of the poor facilitation of moving between working and non-working, but the generous rewards for being non-working may eventually lead to some sort of equilibrium where all the potential workers are even. An alternative might be to limit the amount of work a worker could do, and increase the reward for working relative to not working.

    Implementation might be tricky, mind...

You got criticism because you don't know his exact life.
If you do and he's working/breaking agreement/whatever, report him.
If his life is better than yours and he's not breaking the rules, get over it. And no, maybe he doesn't deserve it. But if he's following the rules then he does deserve it so long as he's not lying or anything dishonest.
