Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yep, the maps are stored on the device. I use Navigon, but I assume they are the same regarding POIs, which can use Google to expand the number available, so if you don't want to use data while using the app, be sure to turn off cellular data in the settings.

Afaik it needs data connection but maybe things have changed recently (OP you mean the iphone app yeah and not a separate GPS?)

There's plenty of offline map alternatives, some are even free like Navfree (which I use along with Waze)

There are plenty more out there, try the free ones first :)

Presuming you are referring to the separate Tom Tom app and not the new IOS maps powered by Tom Tom, it will work perfectly without a data connection.
Just make sure you download all the maps you will be using before you travel, if I recall some of the Sat nav install the basic package on the phone and them give you the option of choosing which maps to install.

It actually works very well, and in the US in particular you cant depend on having a data connection in the wilderness so a stand alone Sat Nav app is the best option.

Tom Tom downloads all the maps onto your phone. I have used my phone as my sat nav all over Europe which I have maps for on my phone.

It needs a connection to get traffic updates thats all.
