Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So you lost your mobile phone. Are you the type of person that says "****, i lost my HTC wildfire/iPhone 4 etc etc?

or are you a respectable member of society that says "oh sugar, one has lost ones mobile telephone device"?

Do you call your phone by its model? 20 votes

Have heard plenty of people say "my s3" when phone would suffice. It's not just apple owners that can be knobs :)

Dunno what model it is, the Nokia with the metal back that falls off with a clang when you drop it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Goat the dote

I call it my iPhone usually, don't know why.. Sometimes just my phone.
When I had nokias I just called it my phone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,453 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

My phone is my phone. Saying that, if someone asks me what phone I have I tell them I have a HTC Sensation (and not "the android phone", "smartphone", "that htc").

Mostly say my "iPhone" and sometimes just say my "phone" an odd time I might call it my "4s".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,382 ✭✭✭petes

I call it by the IMEI number.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

    I call it: "Me Mobile"

as in: "Hang on there and I'll send 'em a text on me mobile."

The full name of my phone makes me want to kick my own head in whenever I say it. I avoid saying it.

Siri has a habit of autocorrecting me and telling me not to call her Shirley!

Anyone mentioning their "iPhone" bugs me.

I've started referring to my "Samsung Galaxy S III" around them to annoy them. Then they think THATS weird.

    Fûck heads.

I'm quitting boards if this is going to start up here. Most unfunny scutter I have ever seen oozing out of the internet.

And I call it my phone. Anyone who calls it anything else is a sap.

Well in fairness, if someone came up asking if I saw their phone, unless they tell me which type of phone they are looking for, how in the fúck am I meant to know?

Who cares what you do to retrieve your phone. That wasn't the question. The OP asked if you refer to your phone simply as "my phone" or do you prattle off its make/model.

Do people still include 'sent from my iPhone' at the bottom of their emails or have they been ridiculed out of doing so?

    (Ironically, posted from my iPhone!)

It seems to be an iphone thing.

And I don't think I'm being too harsh in saying that anyone who does refer to their phone by its name needs to face a firing squad. Harsh, but fair.

    Someone can't afford an iPhone.

So, when you offer someone a lift you say

"Do you want a lift in my Starlet"
"I'll pick you up later in my Nissan"

"I was out in my Mondeo 1.6 CLX and a cyclist on a Giant 56cm 18 speed crossed in front of my Ford"?

I sometimes use the model name of my car when talking about it and I know others that do the same.

 I don't see why anybody would do that. I call my phone 'my phone', unless somebody asks what kind it is... which never happens.

    I don't currently have a phone so I've nothing to mention :D

Otherwise it's just my phone, whatever the model is.

A lot of jealous psychos out there with a problem with iPhone users by the look of it though. Lads, your inability to afford the phone is a problem with *you*, not those who have the ability to buy one.

I ... uhm... did you read my other response at all?
The post you quoted was poking fun at someone who had a chip on their shoulder about iPhone owners. (I know they didn't really, it was just poking fun, see?)

But in response to thread topic, I've never called my phone by it's make or model.
So to answer your question, no. I don't.
