    http://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/football/2012/0923/338732-donegal-beat-mayo-to-end-wait-for-sam/
Donegal have won their second All-Ireland Football Championship title in a wave of emotion at Croke Park, beating Mayo 2-11 to 0-13 this afternoon.
Forwards Micheal Murphy and Colm McFadden hit 1-04 each as the Ulster champions piled more final agony on Mayo.
Early goals from Murphy and McFadden had Donegal seven points clear, but three Cillian O’Connor points narrowed the gap to three (2-04 to 0-07), at the break. O’Connor and Enda Varley kept Mayo in touch, but they held on to claim the Sam Maguire.
A crowd of 82,269 watched Jim McGuinness’s side silence the critics who had lambasted their defensive strategy last season, and lift Gaelic football’s richest prize, 20 years after the county had won a maiden title.

    :(

From the Mayo GAA facebook page:

Following yesterdays All-Ireland Football Championship Final the following information relates to the homecoming event for the Mayo Senior Football Team back into Co. Mayo.

1.45p.m. - Mayo Senior Football Team depart Dublin for Mayo by Train
4.00p.m. - Gates open at Elverys MacHale Park
5.30p.m. - Mayo Senior Football Team expected to arrive at Elverys MacHale Park

    Main Details of the event:

From once the gates of Elverys MacHale Park open at 4.00p.m. there will be musical entertainment for the guests. There will be no access to the train station area when the team arrive and once they have all departed the train they will immediately be transported to Elverys MacHale Park.

Once the team are presented on the stage in Elverys MacHale Park there will be a number of short speeches from members from the Mayo Senior Football Team.

    Important Information to Note:

Patrons are asked to please arrive early.

It is paramount that patrons co-operate with the stewards and their instructions.

There will be a traffic management plan and diversions in place in conjunction with the local authorities in and around Castlebar. Also, there will be no parking at Elverys MacHale Park.

There will be no interaction with members of the team during this event.

We would hope to make this a family fun enjoyable event for all concerned but this will only be possible with the full cooperation between patrons and stewards.
