Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

NASA used Scotty's trick from Star Trek: The Original Series.

KIRK: Scotty! We're all gonna die if you don't fix the ship!

SCOTTY: (Knowing full well he can fix the problem in about four hours) I canna do it in less than twenty hours, Cap'n!

KIRK: Do the best you can!

    Four hours later ...

SCOTTY: Cap'n, you're back to full power.

    KIRK: Scotty! You're a genius!

    SCOTTY: (smiling smugly) Aye.

Break the ice that's formed over the window, if she'd have rolled the glass down there'd have been a thin layer of ice left!

That's what this thread is for, among other things. Most things are self-explanatory, but if people don't get a joke or don't understand the background of a picture/gif, they come here and ask. :)

In your specific case, which Cool Gif did you want us to clarify?

Why is her top Ghanaian and her bottoms German?

She's probably half and half really. Born in Germany but of Ghanaian descent.

That instance is actually relatively common in Germany. For example, two brothers, Kevin Prince Boateng and Jerome Boateng, were both born in Germany but Kevin plays for Ghana while Jerome plays for Germany. They actually played against each other in the 2010 (?) World Cup.

Similar story with France and Algeria I'm sure. I think Karim Benzema actually qualifies for Algeria as well.

Basically, it dated back to the times where European countries had colonised parts of Africa.

That's my guess as to why she has two flags anyway. :)

I'm pretty sure it means it was first posted in the weather forum, and that the picture was taken by/from the police helicopter in London.

Just to preempt any queries about the Three Billboards post (minor spoiler follows here), I was interested in the location of the movie. I googled it, went to maps, and found the streetview showing buildings as they were during shooting.
The building set up as the police station is blackened from the fire scene.
I thought that was amusing, but I anticipate it could prompt the posting of Joe Pesci.

I'm almost willing to bet it's somewhere in Australia.

Unlikely to be in Australia with the word "butt" in it, I'd have thought.

The internet says it's in Colorado. To be specific, here, apparently.
