Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Gordon-Bennett !

Which brings us to British Racing Green, which owes it's origin to the Gordon-Bennett races of 1903 where Emerald green was adopted by the British tea because the races were in Ireland because back in Blighty racing was banned.

If you're referring to the bookburning, erosion of freedom of speech affects everyone.

If you're referring to the bookburning, erosion of freedom of speech affects everyone.
There's the whole thing about being able to stand on a soapbox and orate, or hand out pamphlets, or blog vs. demanding a third party to disseminate your message for free at their risk.

Freedom of speech is a US thing. In the UK , Speakers Corner is tolerated but there is no special immunity.

Here standing on a hilltop in a thunderstorm wearing wet copper armour and shouting 'All gods are bastards!” could mean you get hit with -
A person who publishes or utters blasphemous matter shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable upon conviction on indictment to a fine not exceeding €25,000.

I always loved this bit from The Rutles a parody of The Beatles.
In 1966, the Rutles faced the biggest threat to their careers: Nasty, in a widely quoted interview, apparently had claimed the Rutles were bigger than God, and had gone on to say that God had never had a hit record.

The story spread like wildfire in America. Many fans burned their albums. Many more burnt their fingers attempting to burn their albums. Album sales sky-rocketed. People were buying them just to burn them. But in fact, it was all a ghastly mistake: Nasty, talking to a slightly deaf journalist, had claimed only that the Rutles were bigger than Rod. Rod Stewart would not be big for another 8 years.
    Album sales sky-rocketed :pac:

Have you seen John Wick (not a Marvel movie)? That might be what you're missing.

There's a Marvel movie coming out with a supposedly unbeatable bad guy the heroes hatch a plan to have him kill John Wick's dog and well... spoilers for John Wick
if you kill John's dog he will find you and he will kill you

That's fantastic. Imagine seeing that lot coming towards you on that yolk, yer man at the front with an eyepatch, the next guy has a shovel, there are various boxes and bags being held by the guys behind him and to top it off, a lad with a washing machine or something on his back! I'd run a mile if I saw them.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

More here, a few happy ones, but mostly sad ones.
A lot of the colour photos and film of the concentration camps and Extermination Camps and the starved Dutch were suppressed after the war because they showed white people. Instead images of non-white people were OK and shown a lot since. (some images have only become available recently)

Because charities marketing gimps for charities who use "poverty porn" have to make a living.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
