but I can say in my defence that I used to work in the electronics industry and can remember that picture appearing in a trade magazine, along with a number of jokes.


The image was originally in a careers advice promotion campaign, in around 1985.

By satellite? Angles and what not don't really add up here. If you drag the picture around, you can look up at the tops of buildings above you.

Now that's seriously cool. I zoomed all the way in and can read reg plates on vehicles. Uber-cool stuff!!

If the picture is captured by the satelite how are the license plates visible unless the car is pointing to the sky?

Cool as it is - it’s very obviously not taken from a satellite - you can rotate to look upwards at the sky!!

It says underneath that it's a 195 gigapixel picture taken from the top of the Pearl Tower in Shanghai.

This is also not that much use for "big brother". These kind of images are created by taking thousands of normal-size photos and digitally stitching them all together to create a huge one.

It's been getting faster. I remember when these first started appearing, the whole process between taking the photos and stitching it together took several weeks.

Now they can do it at events; stadiums and the like. Taking the photos only takes a couple of minutes and the final image will be produced the next day.

But we're still several years, if not decades away from being able to do this in real time, i.e. video.

One of the Dublin ones is taken during the Guinness Storehouse tour, or seems to be anyway.

Alternatively roast chicken in a concrete crust might be tasty

Old forms of wall plaster included of blood and animal hair as binders - some feathers etc in the concrete probably not going to be a big problem

That particular Elvis picture looks like it was one of the last pictures of him alive, he doesn't look well.
