I don't really get it either but my understanding is that relations between these two counties are breaking down at the minute due to American troop locations.

We generally prefer as little as possible but it's not something we action with warnings etc unless a person is doing it regularly. This thread was mostly set up to have the chat here, but one or two comment posts in YLYL usually isn't too harmful. The danger is if one chat post is an opening for more, and then they all end up being deleted or moved here.

I see that today's post of the day is as usual from the current YLYL thread. It is this picture here basically.

Am I wrong in thinking that one of the rules of YLYL was that posts or pictures that were aimed at another poster, were banned? I thought they were but I've gone back through the basic rules at the start of the thread(s) and I can't see any mention of it.

In fairness, it didn't attack the poster, and was obviously tongue in cheek.

Sorry I should've stated that I'd no problem with that particular post, I was just using it as an example as to what brought me to think about that. I thought it was a rule but I couldn't find it anywhere when I searched so I was just looking for clarification or even a link.

I think (if memory serves correctly as I don't think I was mod at that time) there was an issue a few years ago where there were a lot of pictures being directed at one or two people, or two groups of people directing pics back and forth, so a ruling was probably made then as it went past "tongue in cheek having a laugh" into "taking the p*ss and borderline personal abuse".

Then there's also the general unspoken rule of not taking screenshots of other people's text posts on other forums in Boards and posting them on YLYL (because that's taking credit for other people's jokes or mocking their post, depending on the context). Exception to this is usually screenshotting a post to highlight irony in someone thanking a post or something like that.

I don't think we have an actual specific rule about it, as it pretty much just falls under the general Personal Abuse rule. If it's tongue-in-cheek, in good fun and not intended to cause harm, it's probably alright. If it's being done to mock, deride or abuse a poster, it's not.
