Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

:D That will come in handy! I had no idea you can use the spacebar for lightning speed scrolling!

If you're that pressed for time try ctrl & end

I prefer a bit of "Page Down" for scrolling myself.

It's diametrically opposed to the "Page Up" key too, so if I scroll past something with a load of 'Thanks', I can quickly hit "Page Up" key.

Also, for locking your computer, a bit of the 'Windows key + L' is your only man. This can be done with one hand for er....."convenience".

No more using two hands and pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del and then hitting enter like some kind of thick.

Never realised till this minute that there are two windows keys on a standard keyboard (there is only one on a laptob )
Had visions that you have a huge hand

Season 1 of Veronica Mars is some of the best TV ever created
It wanes a bit in Season 2&3 and movie is only ok

But well worth a Netflicking(is that what its called) Season 1

It is Cesc Fabergas, a Barcelona footballer who is probably going to get a big money transfer this summer. The gif seems to be saying that none of the managers (seated in the front row) are interested in him.
Not sure of the funniness of it as most of those managers would take him in a heartbeat but that seems to be the gist of it.

The writer of the Game of Thrones just kills all his main characters. That's his thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 535 ✭✭✭dogsears

Its a Game of Thrones reference. There was a story told in the last ep about a chap who used to smash beetles all day long and the guy telling the story made a noise to represent it - khuu khuu - the guy in the pic is supposed to be George RR Martin who wrote the books. So the cartoon speculates Georgie was talking about himself when he wrote that, which would be kinda cool, although not funny.

    I thought it was funny.

Got 2 thanks in the short time that it was up, so am assuming at least 2 others thought it was funny too.

Bad taste maybe, but 'not even slightly funny' is stretching it.

Humour is subjective. What's appropriate for the forum is less so.

I don't mind people thinking I am 'inappropriate' as long as they are not accusing me of being unfunny.

If it was 'inappropriate' then that is fine, but like you say humour is subjective.

If anyone was 'offended' on the subject's behalf well there is not much can be said about that.

Not sure if the subject spends much time on this forum either so doubt there was any risk of him being offended by my post (or motivated by the original either).

In the context of the thread, your pic and comment was unfunny. That's not necessarily a comment on humour, but one of taste.

Either way, it's semantics. And your comment about the subject not being on the forum is just digging a hole for yourself. I'd suggest you just drop it now, and move on.

I think it was said in the GoT forum that the speech wasn't in the books

At least on this side of the Atlantic, we have the good sense to ban advertising of prescription medicines. That way the 'disclaimer' part of ads over here is merely "Remember the value of your investments may fall as well as rise".

Ah yes! I know the one. I just never linked the two together, largely because I had no idea of the comedians performing it, which meant that the names meant nothing to me!!

Probably due to the amount of posts that have to be deleted in PTSTW.

Well, apart from the Mayo reference!

But, really, the reason I said it was bull**** is that the Dept of Ed are not in the habit of releasing such details from LC exam papers after the fact.
