Moving company suggestions.

    We are moving on Wed and our man with a van has let us down, so we want to go with a moving company instead. We are moving from a fully furnished house to another fully furnished house, so all we have to move are personal items, clothes, household items (lamps, rugs, vases, cushions, kitchen items, a few appliances etc etc) and some wall art. The only furniture we are bringing with us are two small IKEA coffee tables, one IKEA 6ft tall book shelf and one 5ft tall bathroom cabinet. None of them can fit in our cars the way that boxes & bags of stuff can. Am reluctant to hire a full scale moving company as we don't have big, bulky furniture to shift. A couple of lads with a Hiace can could probably load/unload everything into/out of it in a couple of hours tops. The new house is only a 7 mile drive away. Any suggestions of who to hire and what would the going rate be? Do they charge by the room, by the hour etc etc. Thanks.
