Rules for some?

    Hi,

I have a question relating to the apparent whimsical and subjective application of the rules in the AH forum.

I got banned for a month (now expired) for "for ignoring a moderator's instructions" (...despite the fact that I had received no instructions.)
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=80204291&postcount=56

On querying I was told that "Next time is a permaban. Fair warning."

For some background disclosure, I had previously been banned for three weeks for this post:

I opened a thread on that here and had some debate with Dr. Bollocko and was happy enough at least that my misgivings were recognised.

I have "served" my most recent ban. However after it passed I did some searches. For example:
    http://www.boards.ie/search/submit/?forum=7&sort=newest&date_to=&date_from=&query=%22yore+ma%22
    and
    http://www.boards.ie/search/submit/?forum=7&sort=newest&date_to=&date_from=&query=%22your+ma%22

I noticed that very few had yellow cards or bannings. Wanting to be a good Boards member, last week I clicked "report" on a number of them. I was surprised on checking back a few days later that still none of them had been banned or warned.

I sent the last AH mod that had banned me a PM about it but he never replied. I understand he is busy but seeing as how I am seemingly on my last chance, I would have appreciated to have the rules clarified. Because it seems to me that these rules are applied in a fairly arbitrary manner.

Why was I banned/yellow carded/threatened with a permaban when all those other posts get off scott free?
Saying that I should have known because I'd been banned before is irrelevant because that's kinda like where you see a career criminal who keeps getting off because he has no record of previous convictions whereas the fella who gets convicted for his first offence, then gets it for all subsequent ones even though they are the same crimes.

You reported 12 posts within a ~10 minute time window (approx 4.20am). (You also reported a further post more recently.)

Of the total 13 posts, 8 were not actionable (i.e. they did not violate the rules as they were references, for example, "What would you put on a boards T shirt" and what was tired and old about boards.)

Of the 5 posts that were actionable, 3 of them were actioned within hours of your reports.

Therefore of the 13 posts that you reported, there were 2 posts that were actionable and not actioned by the mods. (These have now been actioned.)

The reason the 2 posts were missed is more likely because 1) AH is a very busy forum with lots of reported posts, 2) you reported 12 similar posts within a short period, and 3) you reported the posts at 4.20am when the even best of us are not 100% awake, rather than the reason suggested by your thread title here.

I would also suggest that instead of wasting moderator time on childish behaviour like this, you could spend your time on something more productive.
