Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

DRM and the fact that it uses silverlight. People suddenly forgot how evil the film industry has been for the past 10 years when netflix came along

If you unfriended everyone posting inane sh1te on fb then you'd have just about 0 friends. FB == heavy exposure to inane sh1te unless you close your eyes while browsing it

You dont need to unfriend the people who post inane, annoying, depressing or just sh1t sh1t. Just unsubscribe from the,. ergo no more, 'Dorothy liked a picture of a child with leukaemia'. Theres also a handy script called FaceBook Pure which removes all the app and ad bullsh1t. With a bit of tweaking, you can get updates from the people who you can trust to post sensible things. For me its the 3 strike law, annoy me with a post 3 times and its unsubscribe time.

Dont know if this is relevant but I live in Dublin and my friend lives in Drogheda and every 2 months we send each other a hand written letter through regular post. Did it as an ironic gimmick/ experiment at first to see how long it would take to get there but actually enjoyed the authenticity and intimacy of the letters, for want of better words, so still continue doing it. Keep all the letters as keep sakes in a box. It's a bit corny and very dated but I'll take that over YOLO and bored.com any day.

Facebook has become too big to fall (at least for a while now). There's a lot of businesses that would rely on it to get their information across and it also adds a lot more of a personal feel to it. It's also great to interact easier with other people and has taken the music role away from MySpace somewhat (I think). Plus it gives you the option to hide things you don't want to see - like that inane bull****. Anyone posts it, you just hide them from your "newsfeed"

Was never really into the whole social networking scene tbh , I have friends that I see in person and I prefer it that way, yet a lot of people would now call that 'Old fashioned' I really couldn't be bothered having 200 + people that I will see once in the next ten years.

I have an account and all I ever see on it is people I once knew talking rubbish , it's just annoying to read through.

' Went to the gym again today lifted 6 million kg , eat 600 eggs here's a pic of my arms again'

'Off to the gym - pump it!'

'Woke up and had a burger yay!'

    The world is ****ed.

    who cares if it does

    ........investors!

Personally I can't see how Facebook is generating stacks of cash. This is what will ultimately dictate whether it survives or not.

Used to love Facebook but now I find it kind of boring! There's only so many pics you can be bothered to add, the friends I can no longer stand for all the boring oul minutiae they put up(can't get rid of them as their family) but I find I'm going there less and less. Twitter is the way forward I think:)

Facebooks integration with windows into a social operation system will keep it going...also integrating apps is still at the early stage with Facebook,as an advertising source companies have a direct line of communicating with their consumers etc etc,
I'd love to see the end of it but for reasons mentioned above I somewhat doubt it

Facebook could fail as a company. There are still valid questions about how diversified and solid its revenue streams are / will be. It is in an extremely dominant position, but things can change quickly.

Due to the nature of competition, yes it will eventually fade , like myspace and bebo.
    Myspace is coming back soon...

And it's Justin Timberlake that's one of the biggest backers, so you know it's going to fail. again

I much prefer the idea of twitter.
    • You follow what you want
    • you don't see a wall of crap from people you don't like
    • you have better control over what gets posted (not as many drunk disgusting pics of you from the night before tagged and posted by other people)
    • not 3/4567 as stalkerish as Facebook
    • it feels smaller, simpler and more easy going
    • it's not as tacky
    • you can just pick it up and fire off a few tweets and not get so caught up in it
    • it doesn't feel like such a task compared to Facebook

And for all those advantages, I'm not even on twitter! In fairness though, I'm not a big fan of social media. I like, use and see the advantages of it, but texting and meeting up will never be beaten for me!

Completely dfferent website. It's not meant as a competitor for Facebook.

Am I the only one that thinks the lay out is complete sh1te?

And why do people think bebo is for babies? Its so similar to facebook, but facebook is more popular, and bebo is now more or less finished.
