It's 1 in 20. Nothing else as interesting within 0-180.

She keeps dropping of a little bit more each time.

Soon these charts will be in the 120hr range and we will flood the Model/Tech thread :pac::pac:

CFS showing average 850hpa temps in Ireland in Jan and Feb and somewhat below average temps in the UK in Jan but average in Feb. Normally we don't get much snow in those months so guess what average normally means in that context. ????

I would have thought those are the months that we get the most snow, but i could be wrong.

Yes these are the more favourable months but of course it still doesn’t guarantee we'll get snow. Anyhow it's just another useless long range forecasting tool whatever it shows. In fact CFS is even more useless than GFS FI.

They are. By the way feb is looking colder in the most recent run of the CFS but Jan, nahh.

Things have been getting progressively more interesting throughout the day for anyone looking for cold weather, a large chunk of the polar vortex with extreme cold air (literally off the charts on tonight's GFS!) is pushing down towards our NW and all it takes is a favourably positioned low to tap into that air and send it our way

144h shows the extreme cold around Iceland/Greenland

    gfs-1-144_dbd8.png

By the 27th we have ourselves a NW'erly dragging some of the cold our way

    gfs-0-192_thh8.png

Needless to say it wont play out like that but at least its something to watch again in what's been one of the most boring and uneventful Decembers in recent memory. First time all month there's projected to be any real cold to our north

That pub run is sight for sore eyes on the 27th.

    Weathercheck's Blizzard has surfaced. :D

GFS ensembles look good for a potential cold snap/spell just after Christmas. Interesting model watching ahead - finally.

All good cold spells are in someway sourced from the north. That source would be very egalitarian as it would blow onshore from all directions at times giving everyone a crack of the whip.
It's also essentially a variant of what happened in 2010 ( not saying this is as cold) in tha a low sinking from the nw into scotland and possibly down the north sea could bring a bitter northeasterly.

    But hey,that jinxes things.

If only. A brief flirt with -4 to -6 uppers possible. Some sleet on lower ground for the 26th/27th looks likely at the point in time.
