we've had standing water in our back garden to some degree for the guts of a month now.

Nice, we've also added a water feature for the majority of November!

More sweet, sweet liquid sunshine on the east coast again tomorrow morning.

On it being exceptionally wet so far this month I've recently started tracking the number of days I've gotten wet on the commute. Since 1 November I've commuted 17 days, 1h trip each direction, 34 trips all in - wet for 11 of those so far. I don't know whether that's more or less than usual!

    Noooooooo :(

Not loving the dark wet mornings.
    Or the dark wet evenings.

And my front brake has stopped self actuating due to gunk build up waaaaaah!!!!
Went out to clean it out this eve (got home at half 9 this eve, left in the thick of the rain at half 8/9 ) and it was bulling rain, so I fcuk that.
Back to pushing it back out. I won't be hitting any PB's on the commute this week that's for sure!

Wettest month in Dublin in four years apparently
It's looking that way. Provisional figures for Nov 2019 should increase over the next couple of days. Currently looks like wettest November in 5 years at Phoenix Park, 10 years at Baldonnel and 17 years at Dublin Airport.

    Station|Nov 2019 (provisional)|Record (Nov)|Year|Wettest Nov Since|Value|Wettest month since|Value|Wettest month ever|Value
    Dublin Airport|171.1mm|186.7|2002|2002|186.7|Dec 2015|192.1|Dec 1978|217.0
    Phoenix Park|153.5mm|191.1|1965|2014|154.3|Dec 2015|192.8|Dec 1978|231.0
    Baldonnel|139.5mm|169.0|2009|2009|169.0|Dec 2015|205.2|Dec 2015|205.2

OTOH, out west it was just average...

25 mins getting dressed, 50 yards done n a skinning sleet shower, turned round and did a 2hr turbo sesh.

I'm off work tomorrow so I'll do 3hrs in better weather conditions.

Depends on which direction you’re going :)

Supposed to be dry by morning in Dublin, but winds may remain strong/gusty. I’m hoping for a PB as I head north east into city centre.

    Might dust off the strava.

looked out the window about 6am, car covered in ice.
about 7am, woken by sound of rain being driven against the window. turned my alarm off and stayed in bed.

now it's actually pleasant looking out there, but it's 2C and the wind has teeth.

I thought that rainy morning in October was the wettest journey I'd ever have, but this evening has leapt ahead of it. Also, strong squalls mixed in. Really awful.

Still, better than every other option, as usual.

Awful evening for cycling. Wet and windy doesn't come close to descripting it

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,850 ✭✭✭FouxDaFaFa

Those were some of the worst conditions I've cycled in. I had to stop and walk the bike to a shop because I wasn't happy with the stopping distance I was getting, it was impossible with stop and start traffic and how wet the road was. Horrendous.

It was the worst journey I've ever had to make on a bike, and I've done an awful lot of journeys on a bike.
