Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dying over Balyage

Basically, as the title suggests, I have to dye over my balayage ( :( ) .

I just want it the same colour as the natural colour on the top of my head (dark brown), and I want to do it at home (can't afford a hairdresser).

Should I dye only the bottom? Or put dye on the bottom for longer then the top? Or the top for longer then the bottom?

Should I get a dye as close in colour to my natural colour as possible?

Any help really appreciated as I have yo do it this week! Thanks :)

    Hi

I did this a couple of weeks back. I just dyed all over with a colour I got in Boots. I can't remember which one, but just a normal permanent hair colour. I coloured all my hair at the same time and rinsed it all off at the same time.

Then last week, I re-did the Balyage using that new L'Oreal kit and my hair looks ok and for once the condition is grand....

If you're unsure though, do a test on a small portion of your hair ...

I've dyed over all bleached blonde hair before but not ombre or balayage, but i'd say just dye all over it with a colour similar to you own naturally, It might take two goes, to get it the same colour. It took me three to get it matching my natural colour but my hair was very light.

I should have said that I have Brown hair so I wasn't too worried about matching to my natural colour, just wanted something brown..

Have also dyed over highlights before with colour bought from the chemist and I have no problems, and its probably the same process.
