    Hey,

I've just moved over to New York, I'm here working for the next year. Was hoping to get a thread going with other Irish who might be out here as would be nice to know some Irish people, and might be handy for renting and accomodation

This is what you need : http://www.meetup.com/NYIrish/

There are over 500 members in the group and there are usually weekly meets in different pubs/aet centers/etc around town.

The New York Irish Center on Long Island City is a place where you can go to watch an Irish movie or see music/stand-up and feel less pressure than perhaps joining a group of strangers (who already know each other) in a bar.

    Hey Jukebox,

I am relocating to NYC in Feb, hoping to live in Woodlawn as I will be playing football there. Where are you living and how did you find it settling in? Did you go alone?

    Sarah.

Don't get the attraction to Woodlawn myself - guess depends where you are working / go out but it's much to far from downtown manhattan for me
