You usually get what you pay for, Farrow & ball are the most expensive for water based eggshell but name a better water based eggshell. And there are far more expensive paints made especially for flooring. That are better than all methods we've mentioned, but they come in 2packs and need to be left for about 3 days to dry properly..
Farrow & Ball may be expensive but nobody can deny they are one of the best paints on the market. Take cost out of the equation and I reckon most would choose f&b over the rest.

Name a better waterbased eggshell, Ill go one better johnstones acryl satin or eggshell.......& for a primer for this floor johnstone acryl primer.
Sherman Williams acryl eggshell is far far better too cos it sands to a dust so your final coat will leave minimal brush marks as its waterbased acrylic alkyds & the maker of the first latex paint.

incedently Farrow & Ball is best brushed on and not rolled. This makes it labour intensive, where as acrylic alkyd waterbased paint can be rolled and lightly sanded to disperse roller marks and orange peel effect... without comprimising the finish as it sands to a dust whereas Farrow and Ball does not. however, through experiance in the trade one would know how to achieve this eligent finish without having to deal with these issues in the first place.

a few that spring to mind ( having been in the business of decorative arts, specialist paint and paint effects for over 25 years )....sikkens, kiem, Sherman Williams, Capacryl, Capadur and the entire caparol paint system are far better products than Farrow and Ball.

For a QUICK, CHEAP & LASTING finish I still say emulsion & waterbased floor varnish as this is for a INTERIOR DOMESTIC floor & not a shopping mall or palace.

You've been back to a few jobs over 10 yrs later and they are still perfect? Still perfect??
That statement discredits everything else you say imo..
What have you done (in a day) in the pics? Looks like you painted the floor black and varnished over it then took 2 pics before its even dried and all the problems start.
Actually this was painted 6yrs ago, I was back to repaint the ceiling walls & skirting in new colours.......so took a pic of the floor for reference.

You were back to repaint the ceiling, walls and skirting so you had to take everything out of the room to do that? That's coming from someone who primed, gave 2 coats of emulsion and 2 coats of varnish to that floor 6 yrs previously all in the one day... Has that room been left completely empty for the last 6 yrs. And just so you know for your future stories: water based varnish has a low sheen. After 6 yrs of been walked on for it to look like your picture would be something all the paint manufacturers would pay big money for. So you should ring one of them companies you listed, tell them about your 10 yr still perfect floors and make millions for yourself instead of wasting your time trying to convince 6 or 7 ppl in a tread of how amazing a painter you are. So amazing even after 10 yrs your jobs still look perfect. Hire you once, never need to paint again!!!
