*** Moving from the obsolete US/ Canada Travel forum to USA forum ***

There is no 3 months visa as such...
    - There is the 90 day visa waiver program, which Irish citizens can use. All you need to do is fill in ESTA online, very easy to get, but you cannot work on it.
    - There is the J1 (summer or year long internship), which again is pretty easy to get as long as you are a student or have graduated within one year.
    - There are no 3 months work visas; to get a work visa, you need to be sponsored by an employer. This costs the employer upward of $5000 so they won;t want to do that for 3 months.

You shouldn't have any problem finding summer work if you target your search in areas/cities that hire a lot of employees for the summer tourist season....theme parks, hotels, restaurants, bars near beaches, lakes, tourist attractions etc etc.
