I was wondering how long it would take you to put forward your obligatory OTB defence.

How long before you figure out its usually just after some obligatory nonsensical complaint?

Love how day after day there's posts about the show being full of snowflakes by people who get very upset when they're challenged on it.

Seriously, go do something you enjoy. Not for my benefit, for yours.

Nonsensical in your opinion. Every comment can’t possibly fit that description but what is certain is that no matter the credibility of the comment, you’ll be along to defend against it like clockwork. I suppose even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Yeah, it's nonsensical that every one of your comments is complaining but it's a given that every one of my comments is defending......

And, say we are both right... I'm talking all the time about something I enjoy, you are focused on something you hate. What does that say?

A stopped clock might be right twice a day, but using the same analogy, you're a digital one with no batteries in it.

Oh my god stop ****ing talking about dancing on ice. just spent 5 minutes discussing it with Stephen hunt and he spent 10 minutes at the start of the show another time this week talking about it. No one cares about that gob****e Kilbane.

They seem to be delving in to current affairs more.

I always suspected that Ger, Joe and Richie would prefer to be involved in a current affairs show aa opposed to sport.

Come on lads, it's not bizarre. Everyone in media was talking about it. Particularly on a platform where they are outputting 30+ hours a week.

As for the preference of presenters.

Gilroy went to current affairs and came back to sport and pushing it forward in terms of shows and content.
Molloy started out as researched on a drive time show (Hook I think) and has moved in to sport, leading to Rugby gig on Virgin.
Richie I suspect would rather Tom Dunnes music show role as opposed to a CA one.

Ye are just going to have to accept that the days of teletext and nothing more than scores and scorers counting as sports media are gone.

Gilroy didn’t come back willingly, he got axed if I recall correctly.

Not sure what your rambling at the end about teletext scores has to do with anything?

I listened to a good few hours of UK based Talk Sport last week, far more than OTB. Wasn’t a whisper about the royals or anything much outside of the sporting world.

Another twenty minutes on Kilbane, they are like a bunch of old women, gossiping and making "jokes" now about Kilbane and his partner. I turned off before they start singing "Kevin and Brianne, sitting in a tree. "

And you lasted the whole 20 minutes, G? I’d have turned off long before that, if it was something that annoyed, or irritated, me.

Did they start talking sports after they’d finish talking about Kilbane’s dancing? Sounds like you “weathered” the storm but then just gave up.

Their stupid Kilbane/Dancing on Ice nonsense is something suited for the canteen, not national airwaves. No one cares if you're going over and might miss Kilbane.

No harm as in what? As in its harmless? It's harmful in the sense that the show they are being paid to produce and present is not about doing regular promo muck for some muppet doing some self serving skating on ice garbage...which for the most part, I am assuming the listener-ship dont give a flying f*ck about.

Here's an idea - why don't you just stop listening to the show that you seem to have so much hatred towards?

Have to agree, it made for awful radio. I like Nathan, but he's started sounding increasingly shrill and like an excited schoolgirl on the show at times of late. He needs to calm down as he's not easy to listen to when he's in that mode.

Stock answer for criticism on any show on this forum, save it. I listen to the show still and sometimes they really hit the nail on the head, great interview or paper review. They provide great live updates of all games in every sport and focus on Irish sport. This is key as we really don't have many alternatives. OTB is extremely hot and cold, so I do listen but then you have the real lows where you have to listen about dancing on ice or 'the bants' and a group of lads that don't seem to actually like each other or gel. An Irish version of TalkSport and I'm happy.

It could be argue that Wexford have the most entertaining or 'Box Office' managers in both hurling and football at the moment.
Enjoyed listening to Galvin (the part that was played on tonights show).

Ya Galvin is definitely box office. That's a big job he's taking on, begs the question why did he? What's in it for him? Is he getting paid? I'm particularly interested in the last question.

I would suspect he is not doing it for the good of his health. Would even Jim Gavin go to Wexford and do it for nothing knowing that he is one of the guys who wouldn't even claim expenses during his time with Dublin.

The morning show was a great idea, but I much preferred when it was not Gilroy presenting in the mornings. I think Nathan is a far better choice for first thing in the morning - Things are less preachy and self righteous, and a lot more fun. But I do understand the staffing dilemma having shows at both ends of the day creates for them.

Eh what? He's likely getting up near 100k + expenses + car.

Do people really think they're doing it for the fun of it? These lads are getting big big money. Sure Davy is opening a restaurant with Lee Chin in Wexford.

Interview with Dominic Day and George Kruis just now is excellent.
They are putting their names to CBD products and are also current/former Saracens players.

Nathan asking so.e very pointed questions on topic of doping (CBD) and cheating (overpayment at Saracens).

They were definitely put in the spot a bit but handled it well.

Giles: "I only know one of the young lads on the Liverpool team, James........... is it?"
    Nathan: "Jones".
    Giles: "Yeah Jones".

I'm surprised that OTB keep Giles on the show. He seems to give his best interviews to Dunphy, or maybe Dunphy is just better at handling him. But his interviews with OTB are getting poorer and poorer. You'd wonder how long they can keep him on.

How bad is John Duggan’s new segment on golf betting?? He’s like a parody....so full of himself it’s unbelievable! For example, on last Friday’s OTBAM he bragged about a 150/1 winner he had on golf in 2008. Claims to know more about sports than he actually does. Always switch off when he comes on.

If you ask me (I know you didn’t) all he did was try to make the lads admit how immoral all of this painkiller/cannabis taking culture was. Thankfully they just brushed it off and gave him a figurative up yours. Thanks Nathan, we know where you now stand on these issues, thanks for interviewing yourself.

I thought it was an interesting conversation. Both that and about the finding against Saracens for illicit pay deals.

You can't fault an interviewer for asking particular questions just because you disagree with them. Some people are of the 'let them all dope' viewpoint, thankfully, most aren't.

But they aren’t doping. None of this is illegal but of course OTB have an issue with it regardless.

As I said, I find it an interesting conversation, irrespective of the forum on which it is held.

The questions about CBD possibly giving people a unique advantage through helping them to calm their nerves is at least worth asking if not simply stating that it is doping.

If you know it for a fact, and you are anonymous here, can you tell us the county and how you know it?

I'm not necessarily saying you are wrong, but as long as things like this are said with a wink and a nudge, it'll continue.

If it's true, and someone like Mark Tighe turns his focus on to it, it could make the FAI look like amateurs by comparison.

That's such a stupid point of view because lads are throwing creating into them and pumping themselves with injections to give them performance boosts.

Not a fan of Joe Brolly but his line about Ger Gilroy's interview with Mick O'Connell a few years ago was a gift to us all.

"It was like Seamus Heaney being cross-examined by Ant and Dec."

By the sounds of it, Gilroy didn't take too kindly to it at the time and the two boys have a bit of previous.

Oddly enough and contrary to Brolly's opinion he gave himself an absolutely glowing review of the interview on his own site.

Your usual response is to insult rather than defend your opinion. I've pointed this out to you before. Snide remark after snide remark and then report a poster for responding. No substance to any of your responses, just insult and retreat. It's pathetic.

Try this..."Alan Quinlan is a valuable member of Newstalk and is a very talented sports journalist because...."

I'll respond with why I think he is absolutely useless. That's 'discussion' which you were so much in favour of previously, yet totally incapable of doing so yourself.

Great paper review yesterday. Lots of gender and race politics of course, yet very little sport? We even had a feminist camogie player who was quite categorical about her coaching superiority at intercounty level over men. “I know more” she said. Come on TMH. I want to hear your angle of defence on this one. I’m sure it’s interesting.

Haven't heard yesterdays newspaper round but I'll still take a stab at responding.

My guess is that you either misunderstood what she said or are (deliberately or unintentionally, I'm not sure) taking it out of context. I may get to listen to it during the week and if so, will respond in greater detail.
