Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oh OP, all you're going to get here is people complaining about it :) personally I see it as a day to go out, enjoy a few discount pints, good music & a bitta mid week craic.

    To Arthur ;)

This is Ireland; it's always like that.

I prefer pubs to be a bit quieter anyway, and particularly despise the crowds of stupid people on the day in September in the last few years when Diageo have held extensive promotions for Guinness.

    i know
But just taught id share the love of all reasons you've named!!
And if everyone else wants to be dry, ill just stay singing songs covered by noel keegan :D

Ireland: where feeling secure enough not to have to concoct reasons to go drinking, and wanting to avoid crowds of drunk morons helping a major corporation sell their shoddy product makes you "dry."

People do realise that the whole arthus day crap is just a marketing tool to sell more pints, right? ... and that makes you a sucker for buying guinness because its "arthurs day" ?

What if I said next Sunday is Cadburys day. Would you go out and buy a cadburys bar to celebrate?

To be honest I'd be far more on board with Cadbury's Day. That sounds great!

The funny thing is that it was reported Arthurs Day was meant to just be a once off. But due to the success they had they couldnt just turn their nose at it. Had to make it a yearly thing. Dont tell me other companies werent noticing ;)

I reckon over the next few years we are going to get all sorts of so called celebration days.

I bet if Arthur Guinness was around to try a pint of today's Guinness he'd say something like "WTF is this muck?" after he'd finished retching.

Let's celebrate something worthwhile today. Like Google's 14th birthcay.

Better than celebrating something that makes you fat and turns your sh1t black. :D
