    Hi,

I've had a good search and can't find a previous similar question for this; or even a category that suits the question better than "Literature".

Does anyone know of any companies/book shops in Dublin that provide hardcover restoration services?

What are you looking to do exactly? Repair or re-enforce a cover so that you can use the book without worrying about it falling apart while you use it or trying to invisibly restore the looks of an antique or rare book? Maybe something in between?

    They are very different procedures.

How valuable is the book? Is its value sentimental, is it of use value or do you just not want to damage something that might be worth a few quid?

If the book is rare or valuable somewhere like Catach books (Duke Street, www.rarebooks.ie) might be able to advise you on where to go. If its something more ordinary you can probably do it yourself easily enough.

It is not a particularly valuable book but it is out of print. It is a retired library book and had some serious stickers that someone attempted to remove pretty badly. So it needs the interior leaves of the cover replaced and the library stamps on the ends of the pages removed. Not the most glamorous bit of work but will take a bit of skill!

I'll give those guys a try, thanks :)

Try Antiquarian Bookcrafts/ in Marlay Park - they specialise in this kind of work, and you get to have a walk in the park too :)
