Don't know where to ask this but does anyone know what the situation is regarding lost and found items? I handed something I found into a shop which was of some value. I have to say I am a little worried that maybe it may 'disappear'. There doesn't seem to be a notice board in the shop to put up a notice. What is the shop's responsibility in this situation? And what is my responsibility as the finder? I thought I did the right thing but I have been told by friends that I should never have handed it in, as it probably 'disappeared'.
