Stop suggesting places like McDonalds. 99% of the time that I've gone in to put in a CV, I was politely told "sorry, we have too many CVs at the moment".

That was around Dublin but still, I think it applies to a lot of places like that and how things are nowadays.

But OP, honestly, people on this site that generally are "dole scumbags, lazy, stoned, drunk kids, medical card" have feck all of how it works. They assume rent allowance is given to everyone on the dole, that we use the medical card to get free cocaine or something.
    It's a load of rubbish.

    So just ignore them.

Threads ( Dublin slang for clothes ) so, poster is taking the view point of " what is your opinion of what people going to collect their dole payment are wearing ". The fact that I had to explain it, makes it even less funny then it already was !

Sorry I couldn't contribute something more meaningful to another thread moaning about people who moan about the dole :(

I was asking about the grandad bit??
Have I missed out a new fashion statement or indeed a new cultural reference, Are you alright Son?

It's a quote from Uncle Albert (not Grandad :o) in Only Fools and Horses. If you need to Google that you should probably watch it while you're at it.

    I think it's weird.

I have been lucky enough to never have been on the dole, I don't begrudge people having it. Seriously guys we have actual villains in this country. I would save my vitriol and indignation for them.

Infact if we get all the people on the live register we could form our own people's militia.

I am smart enough to realize that I am the fortunate one. I wonder what is it that people are angry with really? We should direct anger where it is deserved. It would be more effective and as an electorate we would be more respected. As it is I think it is a clever ploy nd distraction and it works to the favour of the political class.

    Messed up isnt it.

I had an interview a while back. New retail store opening up. Interviewer said "we currently have 24 positions and over the next few days we will be interviewing 120 people. But we will contact everyone. Even if you are unsucessful" ... still waiting on that phone call. lol.

But if they were willing to interview 120 people, which is a mental number for interviews  how many actually applied!?

I'm no expert on French but I'm fairly sure the presence of the word "baguette" in this sentence can't possibly lead to anything good...

Of course it can. 2 words: Breakfast Roll.

I can see this turning into another dole bashing thread.

Which will be ironic in itself.

I'm partial to a continental breakfast myself, a roll in bed with a little honey.
