Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I can see Arsenal winning this one, Chelsea have destroyed a few poor teams but failed to impress against better sides.

It'll be a decent gauge of where both teams are anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I think 2-2 but both teams are capable of turning over the other.

fun fact - both teams have scored 9 goals and both have only conceded 2!

This game will tell alot about Arsenal.

They could well be dark horses this year.

could really go either way, I fancy Arsenal as we've been very good so far this year, but chelsea have been just smashing going forward and have real class in the squad, Oscar and Hazard are magic additions to an already good team.
I'll say 2-1 to the gunners and i'll be chewing the fingernails off myself all through the game. Looking forward to it immensely!
Especially that Drogba the Arsenal Slayer is gone! (what a striker though!)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,808 ✭✭✭Caveman1

It's a tough one to call, both teams have started well enough but have yet to play any of the big teams.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Chelsea do against a team that won't be just sitting back, ill go 2-1 Chelsea

I thought Arsenal played against the league champions ( Man City) at home last week? I might be mistaken but I would have assumed that Man City will be regarded as a big team.

Torres first half hattrick Chelsea up 3-0 at half-time, match ends 4-4

Would be delighted with a draw tbh. Preferably a high scoring one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

Think the Chelsea defence will be found out by decent sides this season, Torres still quite hit and miss at the other end, tbh has more off days than on so safer to assume he won't be at it. Baring Arsenal being exceptionally wasteful I see them winning this pretty handily.

Would be happy with a draw today.

Alot of these players first expierience of a Premier League game like this (Cesar, Hazard, Oscar, Moses etc).

We are capable of winning but that would be a bonus really!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

Arsenal to be well on top in this one, it'll just come down to whether they'll be clinical enough imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,627 ✭✭✭Sgt Pepper 64

Arsenal will face a new Chelsea, playing short defence splitting passes.
Should be interesting to say the least

My bad, forgot all about that game.

Cracking way to kick off this weekends football.

After this game Arsenal go on a run until the middle of January (apart from one game against Manchester United away) of games they should win so avoiding defeat here would be massive.

I'm going for a score draw.

Lol, so for all walcott's bluster, he doesnt even start!

That defence looks there for the taking!

Think that's a strong defence yer best hope is if Jenks don't get much protection from Ramsey

Really hope Chelsea line up with frank and mikel in the middle

Shows the size of Arsenal's squad as there's no space on the bench (through injury or otherwise) for Chamakh, Arshavin, Rosicky, Sagna, Wilshere, Frimpong and Coquelin.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,756 ✭✭✭emergingstar

No frank ah well least mikel is playing

    Thats a pretty good team

Ramires and Mikel will be better thrn Lamps and Mikel I hope. More pace anyway but Ramires can be rash.

Mata Oscar Hazard is a lethal trio.

I'm going for Arsenal here. Still not convinced by Chelsea, could be wrong but they have had it easy so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

    1 - 3 Chelsea.

    Hazard - 2

Changing my prediction from 2-2. ;)

The three players behind Torres looks brilliant
But not to worried by the rest of it

All brilliant players, but how much of the ball will they see ?

I had a feeling Oscar would start

    Thats a pretty good team

Terry and Luiz would wanna get alot of cover from the MF. I expect Arsenal to try exploit Terry's pace or lack of big time.

Yep why gervinho is up top

Looking forward to Gervinho making a fool of Terry - even if any resultant shots end up in row Z.

Glad he is, thought Theo would run riot against our back line. Main threat for me will be the movememnt of Arsenal and Cazorlas ability to pick a pass. He'll have to be closed down all day early.

I think gervinho will cause havoc but as greendom says only god knows where the ball will end up

Mikel have a massive job on his hands with Santi am early booking could be good for us

Those 3 players- Mata, Oscar and Hazard will probably be the difference here today. Arsenal will score but I think a 1-1 draw or perhaps Chelsea nicking a 2-1.

Podolski to score and Torres to have a very good game.

Id say Ramires will be on Cazorla and leave Mikela deeper and pick up any runners like Diaby. Going to be a good tactical battle anyway which gives Wenger the upper hand in that regard.

Good call I actually like Ramires hopefully he pushes on and leave space
Gonna be a very good tactical game
