I could actually BE 50 you know, or I could have just lied!

Anyway delighted to wind up Utd fans who are\were so quick to slag off Terry whenever the chance presents itself. Of course nothing to do with them at all

Top of the League to ya!

Yeah I mean the cheek of us having a go at a guy found guilty of making racist comments to another player, the cheek of us! Says a lot about you that you find it a source of amusement.

Anyway out of respect to the other Utd supporters on this thread this is the last time I quote you or respond to you.

Nani was rubbish, I know he scored but he put about 10 crosses in when spurs were really under the heat and not one of them cleared the first man. Does my nut in, wouldn't care if he was sold at this stage

Well done to Spurs, that's a proverbial monkey off your back! I'm sure the last league win at OT was in black & white.

I wonder will Lindegaard get dropped for leaving in a few easy goals..
    Who plays next? Johnstone?

Terrible first half for us, great second half in terms of possession and chances, but that's all. Giggs should retire, every time i see him in the team now i think we are going to be in trouble.

Sir Alex Ferguson after United's 3-2 defeat by Spurs: "Four minutes of added time is an insult to the game. It's a disgrace."

I didn't see the game so I don't know. No utd supporters here seem to be complaining.

    Is he right?

I didn't think he was particularly at fault for any of the goals and would be the last port of call in an inquest into how the goals were conceded.

I'd still have De Gea ahead of him though, no doubt.

Did Fergie give a post match interview? LOF turned over to another match after the Sours players interviews.

Disgraceful my hole. We scored 3 goals ffs. Yeah, we were kept in our end for the last 30 minutes, but it's Utd at home, and they we constantly pressing.

Either way, fair play to Utd for making it bloody difficult. Really entertaining, but i need a lie down now :D

Of course it's disgraceful. They were incredibly lucky not to concede any of those chances. Parking the bus does not work, at all. The amount of times a Spurs player had a chance to take the ball forwards and relieve pressure and none of them took responsibility.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade here. I just dislike seeing teams parking the bus because it achieves nothing. Luck and poor finishing kept Spurs in the game this evening, not that second half performance.
In fairness it has not been the first time spurs were 2 goals up on united and ended up getting beat. It was not pretty but in 6 or 7 months time, it will be the result that counts. I was 100% certain of a repeat of the last results. Delighted they held on

"The wait is over. It's been 26 games without a win at Old Trafford for Spurs since 1989. And no win at all against United since 2001- but now they have beaten them at their own home. AVB has won three in a row and this is the biggest win of his Premier League career. Man United lose at home for the first time in 2012 in the league. What a game."

It could probably have been more, all subs used, a couple of stoppages with Gallas changing contacts etc but nothing to complain about. Fergie is just deflecting here.

Was at the game in the East stand.

Only one goal down our end.

    Disdaining result.
A draw would have been fair given how United dominated the 2nd half.

    Scholes was fantastic.
Giggs should have been taken off after 20 mins. His pace is completely gone.

As for the injury time, there were two subs made in injury time so that should have been 30s per sub.
5 mins should have been played, maybe even 6.

Fair play to spurs, took advantage of some very sloppy defending.

United are being carved open too easily these days.

Another game with United being unable to put in a decent performance for 90 mins. It's happening far too often now-we play well in spurts.

The other night with the 'kids' in the team we attacked & played with speed & movement but for 45 mins today it was back to the "zombie football" again.Teams are finding it too easy to play against us now, flood midfield & get tight to Carrick, that nullifies 90% of our play through midfield. If he can't get the ball to anyone such as Scholes then everything grinds to a halt. Our play is too predictable,Carrick-Scholes-winger,cross that 99% of the time hits the first man.....repeat.We bought Kagawa yet the team don't know how to use him,he must have been worn out having to drop so deep in an attempt to get possession & when he did there was nobody from midfield running past him.We must have the most static midfield in the league.God be with the team of the 90's where we had runners from all angles and teams were terrified of us.

We need someone to replace Scholes.

I didn't think Modric was worth the money, but my god now I'm thinking he would have been well worth it.

    I disagree.

Why is it that when Scholes is not playing we struggle. Carrick is fine to play beside someone like Scholes.

Even City have Barry, just someone to play some simple passes to the right players.

Because a midfield of Scholes/Carrick or Modric/Carrick will still get overrun by any half decent midfield. United need a defensive midfielder who is there to break up play, win the ball back and lay it off to a Scholes/Modric. I said it before, Mascherano would be absolutely perfect for United. Its ok to have a Scholes/Modric partnership with Carrick when you have a lot of posession, not so much when the other team can actually play football as witnessed today and last week against Liverpool.

    What about City?

    They have

    ----Toure----Barry----

    Silva---Aguero---Nasri

    Tevez

None of them are a 3rd midfielder really, not more than Kagawa anyways.

Fergie probably wouldn't play Mascherano. He doesn't seem to like midfielders who offer very little going forwards.

I didnt say anything about a 3rd midfielder
City have both Barry and Yaya who are well able to break up play, throw Javi Garcia in there who would be better in that department than both of those mentioned, just like De Jong before him.

United need someone like that to replace Carrick, then you get the creative midfielder to replace Scholes. Nick Powell wont be the answer, Anderson isnt the answer, Cleverly isnt the answer.

You said Utd get over run in the middle.

Carrick is apt at breaking up play. Has pretty good positioning.

Scholes natural position isn't deep. He only plays there now because he doesn't have the legs. Modric plays in this position because he is good there.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 10,259 ✭✭✭✭Melion

Fergie probably wouldn't play Mascherano. He doesn't seem to like midfielders who offer very little going forwards.

And therein lies the problem. As i said earlier, its all well and good playing Scholes and Carrick against teams who go to OT to park the bus, you dont need a Mascherano style player. But last week Liverpool passed around United with ease, Barca have done it through the last few years, Arsenal will do it this season, I'd imagine Chelsea will be able to do it. If you have a "destroyer" in there then it doesnt allow that to happen.

It doesnt bother me in the slightest obviously but if a team is going to rely on Modric to sit deep and make tackles/break up play then it wont end well for them.

I think Modric is better at dictating play but Dembele's physicality is a massive plus letting us play 2 in midfield.
