Trading Players Who Have Rejected Contracts

    Lads,

If anyone tries to resign a player when we roll over to week 1 and has the contract completely rejected, if you want to trade this player, you must make it clear to the person you are trading with, that he has rejected a contract.

The reason for this is that if the player is traded, his new team does not get the opportunity to resign the player and he goes into FA at the end of the season for the Free Agency bidding.

If a trade does occur without the other player being told, it will be automatically vetoed.

    2nd warning:

If you trade for a player in their final year, you do not get the opportunity to offer them a contract and they automatically go into Free Agency.

As this hasn't occurred yet in our franchise, everyone should consider this their warning. There will be no help to anyone who gets into this trouble as you've been warned.

This probably isn't the place for this, but while I was on autopilot the CPU negotiated with the players who's contracts are expiring and now they are unavailable for talks.

Has the CPU screwed me over? Are these guys gonna hit free agency?

There's a setting you can change for this I think, it's in League settings.

Additional Note: Ben has asked me to put an additional note on this rule.

There are circumstances where players who have been traded for and were on the last year of their contract do not appear when it comes to renegotiations at season end. This is down to a programming fault by EA. ( We are not talking about players who have rejected contracts before being traded here because you are not allowed to trade such players.)

If this happens to you and the player does not appear on your resignings scree you are allowed "protection" on him throughout Free Agency. It did not occur in Season 1 but could occur in Season 2 / 3 if people do trades involving such players. Ben will set up a Protected Players thread at the end of season when it comes to Resignings and coaches can place such players on that list. What will happen then is that only the coaches whose players are on the list will be allowed bid on those players in Free Agency. They will have to offer them 4 years deals with 20% bonus as applies to all free Agency bidding.
