With the CO2 Motor Tax system being restructured in the forthcoming budget, the € differential between the old cc based system & the CO2 system will reduce substantially!

He's on about a big increase (again) in the new emissions based tax, and not that big of an increase in the old one.

The governmnt reducing tax? dont be silly :P

Aye, Band A is €160 for 0 - 120g/km, Band B is €225 for 121 - 140g/km. Most new cars now fall in Band A or B. Under the old cc based system the average annual motor tax was 400+ With the CO2 system its half that. There's a huge falloff in revenue. Expect budget 2012 to do something about this :D

You are going up in engine size so a mechanics report is not needed, but a change of particulars form is required.

You sure about that. We have changed engines in a few mini's (the real ones, not the new BMW type) and each time the local Motor Tax office have looked for an Engineer's Report (usually just any Main Dealer) whether we changed up or down in size.
It was explained that they had to be sure the new engine was fitted safely, even though the mechanic at the local honda Dealer couldn't even find the bonnet release
