Sourcing equipment rack rails

Hello all, had a quick search through the forum but anything related isn't quite right or the thread is years old.

I'm looking to build an equipment rack directly into a built-in desk. Has anybody ever sourced (locally) the standalone rails/posts/strips that you attach the equipment faceplate to? I can only find these ones in Maplin, they're over 2 metres long though and I'd prefer not to hacking away at it, so if anyone knows where I can get shorter, ideally 18U length, it would be fantastic. I'm in Cork by the way.

    Thanks in advance!

I can never source locally but I always use these http://www.studiospares.com/rack-accessories/slide-in-rack-strip-1m/invt/429040/ you can pick up the bolt and 1/2 size nut in local hardware.

As Paul mentioned, it's called rack strip. Like Peter05, when I built my desk I got them from Studiospares. They're easy to cut with a junior hacksaw, but they have several lengths available so it's probably not necessary. Note that you have to buy the nuts and bolts separately.

Any electrical wholesaler or data specialist will have them.

Thank you very much for the replies! I must now look into delivery prices, could end up costing more than the strips themselves!
