Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who wears the (financial) trousers in your house?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19674306
The 15th of each month is a big day for 36-year-old Yoshihiro Nozawa: it is the day he gets paid.
But every month, he hands over his entire salary to his wife Masami.
She controls the household budget and gives him a monthly pocket money of 30,000 yen ($381; £243). Despite being the breadwinner, that is all the money he can spend on himself over the next 30 days.
"The last five days from the 10th of each month are usually the toughest," says Yoshihiro.
To put the amount of his pocket money into context, the Nozawa family of four could easily spend 30,000 yen at Tokyo Disneyland in a day.
Yoshihiro and Masami have two children, Rino aged 6 and Ren aged 8, and they are the reason his wife decided to put him on a fixed allowance.

In our house, I earn it she spends it, but after she has frittered it away on food, bills, children's clothes and the like there's stuff all left for "pocket money".

I set my own "allowance" but almost all of that is work related expenses, so not much left for hobbies and the like. I'm sure many are in a similar position.

Himself is the brains behind investments & all that but we don't tell each other how much to spend.
Once bills are paid its up to ourselves what we do with the rest of it.
There's a baby on the way next year so I have a funny feeling any disposable income we have will be used up fairly fast!

Neither. Seeing as we are married/ living together we work together......

I presume and hope you are joking when you say -frittered it away on food, bills, children's clothes

Yes, joking - just another way of saying that disposable income is limited!

Well, we both earn our own money, but we pay OUR bills and look after OUR children. It's not really a case of mine/yours.

We don't even buy each other presents for b'days or christmas cos the way we see it is, is that it's OUR money, so we just treat ourselves to dinner and a big night out once a month

Completely agree , I'm sick to death of my missus spending all our money on bills and mortgages when we could be enjoying ourselves with it instead :)

I am the man of the house, I earn the money, I'm also old fashioned and stuck in my ways, so of course, she controls the money. Any married lad who says different is probably lying(or she has him really fooled):) I like to kid myself I'm in charge.

Nobody else here to wear trousers. Except the donkey in the field next to me maybe. But he would need to wear two pairs and then he would look stupid.

The guy in the story the op poster is a loser. What a creepy weak way to live your life. The fcuk if I'd give anybody my money to dole out to me as they wish. He should save up for a set of balls.

Balls can be ridiculously expensive for someone on a tight budget. Your advice is dangerous at best. Take these for example

I would love to have someone pulling my purse strings preventing me from bidding on these.

Good job you've no pension and don't pay PRSI so! I'm saving up for a set of balls, but man it's slow with the amount she gives me.
