Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Random Photos XL - DO NOT QUOTE PHOTOS - 800PIX LONGEST SIDE

Welcome to the Random Photo Thread XL.

This thread is for random pictures of random things in random places by random people - so basically this is the place for random photographs. The photographs should be your own work. When we say random, we mean that there's no set theme, and no provision for C&C, for example.

Welcome newbies... Always great to see fresh ideas. Please feel free to post what you have taken. All are welcome.

No expectation of quality or content. It's for everyone. This thread exists because it is good to share Please familiarise yourself with the rules before posting.

Minimal comment is allowed but don't enter into a discussion, debate or offer C&C as the thread is intended mainly to show photographs. Those seeking C&C should post elsewhere or in a new thread.

Please "Thank" images that you like. This forms the basis of the Photo of the Week, which is posted a few weeks after the images to allow viewers to vote.

Thread rules [Please Read] NB - IMPORTANT STUFF NEXT

    * General Charter Rules Apply

    * All images must be 800 pixels or less on the longest side. Any posts with images which break this rule will be deleted.

    * No Quoting Images - Please don't include the original picture in your reply to a post. You can modify the quote to include the linked URL of the image if you like.

    * Making your picture a link to the page it's hosted on flickr or pix.ie or elsewhere is both handy for us nosy lot to find the rest of your stuff, and also generally considered the polite thing to do by the image host. Indeed for some including pix.ie and flickr, it is a condition of using their service.

    * No arguments. Self explanatory really.

    * If you have a disagreement with a photo, use the report post feature - don't go abusing the poster.

    * Try keep to one or two images per post. Then allow some more people to post, then feel free to post again. Do this as often as you like!

The most important rule: Enjoy and have fun.

If you find yourself on the wrong side of these rules, prepare yourself for your post to be deleted, or if you've been feicing around repeatedly, stronger measures will be taken.

The last thread is located here.
    Thank you.

***If you do actually read this OP please add a "Thanks", so we can see who bothers.*** :D

Sorry, I have a sudden fascination with double exposures. I have some better ideas in mind, but I'm trying to perfect the exposure settings first.

I'm having a similar struggle. Recently shot half a roll of Ektar 100 at ISO 1600 by mistake. Durr.

And I just know those 15 shots were going to be my award-winning ones. Blast.

Film is easier to use than digital once you get to grips with it. Much better dynamic range (if you want to get nerdy). You'll get far better results if you can get your own scanner. Canon scanners such as the 9900F and the likes are terrible. The Epson V500/V700 typs are really good and not that expensive either.

i have a 9900f, and it's disappointing out of the box. some decent scanning software is a big improvement (the canon software is so bad, it's actually puzzling how a big imaging company could get it so wrong), but i'm still planning on getting an epson.

No...but that sounds great:) What sort of light do they get inside the slots? Do you live close to it?
I'd love to go back when they have a lot less tourists.....sometime in the winter....but I think it would have to be next year after I save a bit:(

Yeah, im living in Phoenix (about 5 hours), they bring coloured lights and shine them upwards, if your really lucky and you manage to get a full moon and no clouds the light is supposed to be surreal. Lots more purples and magentas. Pretty crowded even if you take the photo tour :(
