I think Noel Skehan of Kilkenny has 9 as well, although 3 of those were as an unused sub goalie.

There are a host of Kilkenny players on 7.

Mick O'Dwyer has 8 All Irelands as a manager, 4 as a player.

Mick O'Dwyer in football obv! 8 as a manager with Kerry 1975-1986.

Dr. Eamonn O'Sullivan also managed/trained Kerry to win 8 titles over a huge timespan..1924-1962. (Man with a very interesting life story)

    Seán Boylan managed Meath to win 4, 1987/88, 1996 & 1999.

There was five of that kerry team with eight, Ger Power of kerry has eight as well I think, Jack O'Shea, Mick Spillane, Sean Walsh all have seven.

The Spillane Brothers Pat, Mick and Tom have eighteen medals between them have any other set of brothers as many. They also have a total of 23 all-Ireland medals at all levels.

Henry Shefflin is the only player to win 9 All Ireland medals on the field of play. Noel Hickey missed out 1 year due to injury, while Noel Skehan was sub goalkeeper to Ollie Walsh for 3 finals. In my book Henry Shefflin stands alone with 9 All Ireland medals followed by Christ Ring, John Doyle, Eddie Brennan and Noel Hickey with 8. As for All Ireland medals for manager, I doubt if there is such an award. If there is, does anyone know when this practice was started. It certainly was not there in the days of Dr. Eamonn O'Sullivan, Fr. Tommy Maher or Paddy Leahy (Tipperary).

Don't forget mick o dwyer, he has to be well up there.

Mattie McDonagh won 4 medals as a player. Notable since I believe that he is the only Connacht man (not sure about female medal winners?) to achieve this feat.

Indeed, I wonder outside the big three in hurling and Kerry/Dublin in football is there anyone else with 4? For that matter, which Dublin players have the most medals?

Edit: there must be some multiple medal winners from Wexford

    Players:
John O'Keeffe , Charlie Nelligan, Mick Spillane, Jack O'Shea, Seán Walsh, Danno Keeffe - 7,

John Egan, Tommy Doyle, Eoin "Bomber" Liston, Paudie Lynch, Joe Barrett, Con Brosnan - Have 6,

Johnny Culloty,Tomás O'Sé, Mick O'Connell, Tom O'Sullivan, Jimmy Deenihan T.D, Tim Kennelly, John Joe Landers, Tim Landers, Joe Keohane, Miko Doyle, Gega O'Connor, Johnny Walsh - all have 5,

Seamus Moynihan, Mike Frank Russell, Marc O'Sé, Colm Cooper, Dec O'Sullivan, Aidan O'Mahony, Paul Galvin, Eoin Brosnan, Mike McCarthy - have 4...as do at least 10 others that I'm not going looking for! Paddy Kennedy and the like way back in the day. You may want to cut it down to 5+! Actually have to mention Dick Fitzgerald, after whom the stadium in Killarney is named. He won 5 from 1903 - 1914..aswell as writing the first ever book on Gaelic Football.

And in case you are wondering..all the above are Kerrymen.

Several of the Wexford 1915-1918 team have 4 in football. Martin Howlett, Tom Murphy, "Tearin" Tom Doyle, Jim Byrne, Richie Reynolds, Paddy Mackey (a Kilkenny man!), Aidan Doyle, Gus O'Kennedy. Could be a couple more.

I think thats it for 4 outside Kerry/Dublin.

Dubs with the most would include an L.Kelly with 4 way back in the turn of the 20th century. Brian Mullins, Anton O'Toole have 4. Don't think any Dub has more than 4, could be wrong.

What about Cavan? They won 5 titles in the space of 20 years or so? I wonder if there were any 4/5 timers there?

No, don't think so. Mick Higgins, PJ Duke and maybe 1 or 2 more have 3 afaik...don't think any played in all those victories. A few older lads I've spoken to rate Duke and John Joe O'Reilly (who died at 34 sadly) as 2 of the best players they ever saw. Duke was meant to be ahead of his time..playing one-twos and making long runs were unheard of for defenders back then, but Duke developed that style with UCD and was in one fella's words "an awful hoor to be marking"!

Good point. Lets limit the players list to 5+ medals and leave the managers list to 4+ medals.

Good point. Lets say this is about 'Most GAA All-Ireland Medals for Players and most All-Ireland titles (wins) for Managers.' I should have worded the thread title better.

Do you want me to change the thread title?

Also, I would suggest editted the initial post with an updated list, easier for people to see the completed list then

EDIT:Clareman just got in before me.

    @Worztron
    Good idea for a thread!
Maybe you could keep updating your OP each time the list is updated. Otherwise people might just look at your original list and post, rather than looking for the latest list and seeing if their additions have already been named. Just a suggestion :-)

Hi Clareman. Please do. Can you rename it to:
"5+ All-Ireland Medals for Players and +4 Titles for Managers."

I will post a revised list pronto.

I would say that you have missed out on a load of Kilkenny players from the early years of the last century. 4 KK players won 7 medals each between 1904 and 1913. They were Jack Rochford, Dick walsh, Sim Walton and Dick Doyle. If 4 players won 7 All Irelands at that time, there must surely be others from that era with 5 or 6. BTW, in my opinion it takes very much from the credibility of your list to include players who were subs, but did not play. Noel Skehan "won" 3 medals looking at the All Ireland from the subs bench. In no way is his record comparable to Henry Shefflin. A proper list should only include players who actually played in the All Ireland Finals.

Do you want me to change the thread title?

Also, I would suggest editted the initial post with an updated list, easier for people to see the completed list then

worztron, I think Clareman meant to update your initial starting post each time you have an updated list, rather than reposting every while on the thread it self. Just edit your first post with your list, it'll make it easier to follow the thread then.

    JJ Delaney 02,03,06,07,08,09,11,12

He was injured a week before the 06 final.

The man has 8 medals, every single one of them deserved.

The records say he has 7.

He didn't play in 2006 final as he was injured but may have picked one up as part of the panel although it was always my understanding that he didn't.

    Done

    Hello again Clareman.

On second thoughts, since this list is getting way too long and I am bound to be missing many. Could you please rename the thread to:
"8+ All-Ireland Medals for Players and +5 Titles for Managers."

    Sorry about this.

This just hurling and football, or does it include the ladies as well?? Mary O Connor from Cork holds 12 All Ireland titles, 7 in camogie and 5 in football. Think Briege Corkery has 9, between the two, hopefully 10 on Sunday! Mary's is definitely correct - on Sunday Eamonn Ryan will have 7 AI titles as a manager

    8 - Tommy Walsh (Kilkenny/H)
    8 - Michael Kavanagh (Kilkenny/H)
    8 - JJ Delaney (Kilkenny/H)

    3 More additions from Kk

I though Tommy Walsh won 7.

Certainly, we can also include them.
