Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Written References?

    Hi everyone

So I've noticed on quite a few teaching job ads the requirement for written references. How normal is this? What I mean is, would someone be put out at being asked to provide these references?

I'm an NQT and my two teaching references are principal and a teacher from my dip school, both of whom have agreed to my having their names down. I'm just worried about going back and asking for written references from them.

What do you guys think? Any experience? Remember I haven't been in the school since June...

Hi I am a NQT. I was in the same position as yourself. I have the Principal and my TP supervisor as a reference on my cv. I forgot to ask for references before I finished last May. So the first week in September I called into the school and asked for a written reference. The Principal was like 'of course, no problem'. Few days later I got a great written reference in the post . Similarly the same with TP supervisor however I emailed her as she is based in Galway. She sound about it.

I say just go and ask. The worst they can say is 'no'!

I could not believe that I was asked for written references from an educational context when I was trying to secure my second teaching practice. At least I know now to start gathering them....

It's totally normal. Just get in touch with you ex principal from your Dip year and ask them to do one up for you.
