Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello there,

    Friend of mine has recommended this alarm:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CYCLONE-V2-MOTORBIKE-MOTORCYCLE-ALARM-IMMOBILISER-/200379831192

    He says he knows a guy who would install it for cheap..bout €30. Unfortunately he's too far away from me to get to.

    Does anyone know of these alarms or anyone around south dublin that would install them for cheap?

    Or can anyone recommend another similar alarm? I got quoted 300-400euro in a 1 or 2 places, can there be that big a difference in the quality/security?

    Cheers
    eyeball

    Firstly, that Cyclone alarm is pretty decent, so don't worry about that. As for getting someone to fit it, there's a lad in Crumlin known on the forums as Africahawk/Evoblade. If you want his number, send me a PM, I don't want to be sticking it up on an open forum.

    There's also Chopper in Trim who specialises in those alarms, but that's probably too far for ya.

    Make sure the alarm and fitter are recommended, I had awful trouble with an alarm on my gs650. It was wired into everything but didn't have a separate relay fitted, sporadic cutting out and non starting and a lot of head scratching before I finally pulled it out and repaired the standard wires!

    I fitted one of those in to the fazer, great piece of kit. If you are doing it yourself a few points, if paying someone who knows what they are doing then it shouldn’t be a problem but its nice to be aware of the below;

    I disconnected the small speaker after a few days as its for the talking part of the alarm and its just annoying, you can connect it back if you want easily.

    If the remote start is not fitted correctly you will find that the bike will try to take off while the side stand is down, to be honest I didn’t like the idea anyway and didn’t bother with it - remote cut off still works.

    Choose where you put it wisely as the alarm is very sensitive and if it is put in a place that has an opening for wind to get in on those windy nights, you will find yourself running down the stairs shouting obscenities while swinging a hurl like a mad man only to find yourself outside half naked freezing your balls off looking like a nutjob as the alarm is very sensitive!

    Its just a little bigger than a packet of smokes, you should't have much bother finding a place, it doesnt have to be underseat, it could be put under the tank as well.

    Question on the remote start,
    when you remote start it do the lights come on or do you need the key?

    Thats what the "blip blip" from the alarm does. After catching me mother out loads of times with it. Poor woman be jumping and screaming like a lunatic. I should really stop doing it because she only got a stent in her heart a few months back, but I always tell her she will be grand because of her new braided hoses :cool::cool:
