I got like that a few years ago, the over commercialisation of it was killing any joy i used to get out of it.

I then made a conscious effort to get back to the real meaning of christmas. Baking with the kids, spending time together, making homemade decorations for the tree. Things like that..

Really look forward to it now.

I was the exact same, I just got fed up with it. But like you said just there, I made an effort just to try get into it for the kids sake. Only one of them is a believer now, so I better make the most of it :) He likes helping me dress the tree, but bloody hell, it looks like a dogs dinner by the time he finishes :D

I will NEVER get fed up of Christmas! :D

I like the idea of putting up the tree on the night of the Toy Show! Definitely doing that this year.

I haven't watched the toy show in a few years now, so it's on the list :)

8th or 9th of December. Christmas sickens me more each year. Ba Humbug.

    From the charter

We do not want you in this Forum, as all who post here love Christmas.

All Anti Christmas Thread's or Post's will be deleted in the nicest possible way.

Given that someone has meaningfully replied to your post I will be leaving it, but I would encourage you (and others) to have a look over the charter again.

We go as a family to see the lights etc on Christmas Eve. While we are out the domestic staff put the tree in the hall and do the decorations. Always wonderful to return home to that!

I like it! Must get some domestic staff. Do they sell them in Tesco?

Having read through this thread, my OH is taking next fri Nov 30th off. Oldest two will go to school, then we will put up all the decorations, inside and out. Neighbour is collecting kids from school, and keeping them till dark, bring them home, as they are driving up the driveway, we will turn on all the lights. then bath, hot chocolate pop corn and the late late toy show. kids are 8 and 5, youngest 3 not holding out much hope for him staying up, but I am so excited, can't wait to see their faces. :):):)

Saw my first Christmass tree in a domestic house this evening.

Ice white lights on a large enough tree in a large front porch of a house.

If it's a real tree you can't go too early or it will wilt by Christmas. Even with watering, they don't survive that long at normal room temperature.

The 12 foot tree came from the Xmass tree farm today.

Its a tad bigger than I remember it being.:pac::D

Some of the trees that were ordered in for some houses and gardens are over 20 feet tall.
