An "Am I better off switching.." thread

I am with UPC here in dublin 1 for several years, I use the TV/BB/phone bundle, I was on 30mb down and the have always been happy but the last 6-7 weeks or possibly longer the speed has dropped to about 20% during off peak, it has gotten worse and worse...

This thread goes into detail my problems with my UPC BB
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056765519

Now if I get no joy from my official complaint over the next week or so I am tempted to jump ship....

I think I am paying €86ish for what I have now and I looked over on the eircom/sky sites and I was thinking of the basic Sky package of €25 and the 50mb speed from Eircom which is €60 for a grand total of 86ish too...

While I would have slightly less channels that doesn't matter, BB is king in my place and Eircom seem to have a better contention ratio, better quality and when it comes to TV quality, Sky blows UPC away....I used to be Sky and my brother is, it's night and day....

What I really want to know is am I getting my prices and comparisons wrong?
I want almost like for like for the same money....I am not working and money is tight.

TY for any help/input, It will be very well received.

ps is Sky still using a dish? :p

    https://secure.eircom.net/talktime/talktime-evolution-flow?execution=e1s1

This is what I 1st came across and obviously that was no use to me

    http://www.eircom.net/broadband/fibre/

    Then I dug deeper....

Maybe the 1st link was superseded by the 2nd?

I think you misread something...max on eircom currently is 24mbs and that only if you live in the exchange.

I'd persevere with UPC ...ask for 2nd level support as the monkeys that answer the phones are well...monkeys

    http://www.eircom.net/broadband/fibre/

That's only available in Wexford and parts of Sandyford

Ok I am not in sandyford or outside Dublin, wow, Eircom are really in the dark ages....guess I have no choice but to persevere with UPC :(

I don't feel the thread was a complete waste though....at least I gleaned some information.... and just as well i did do it b4 I abandoned UPC!

well they do have the 24mb broadband in a lot of places aka your first link.. limits are nowhere near as high as upc's though then also.
im surprised upc costs that much actually.. though it was cheaper.. im guessing its your tv package costs a chunk of that?
eircom still suffer similar situation to upc also..during peak hours connection speeds can drop
