getting toddler to sleep in cot

I have a 15 month old son. Up until about 2 months ago he would sleep fine in his own room in his cot. Then I had to go to hospital for awhile and while I was recovering, my partner just let him sleep in the bed beside him. Now baby usually falls asleep on one of us but when we put him down in cot he is straight up crying.…

Controlled crying didn't work for us. Anyone been through this?
