    Want to take the missus out for a nice meal,don't mind going north to Carlingford or south to Drogheda,or anywere in-between.
    So,in your opinion,whats the best restaurant in Louth and why?

    Was in Fitzpatrick's restaurant last week and thought it was stunning. The 'A le carte' menu was quite pricey but they had a set menu on the night we were there - great value and the quality didn't appear to be reduced which is always good to see. The food was amazing. Everyone at our table had a different dish and not one said it wasn't anything but delicious.

    If nothing else, go here for the place itself. It's got such a lovely charm about it. Old nik-naks (not the crisps!) hanging on the walls everywhere and they've done up the front bar for Halloween, which looks quality!

    Hard to beat Fitzpatricks on way to Carlingford, pricey but good food & very professional staff.
    Eno in Dundalk has excellent food, just staff will drive you nuts.
    Eastern Seaboard has been good anytime I have visited but mixed reports last few months.
    Fuchsia House in Ardee is excellent
    Also see a restaurant in Carrickmacross (Courthouse) just got a Michelin Bid Gourmet

    drogheda = eastern seaboard

    dundalk = windsor,fitzpatricks

    carlingford=magees bistro

    plenty of other good restaurants but these are a step above everything else

    I ate in Fuschia House last year,it was nice but wouldn't be rushing back.Think its a toss between Fitzpatricks or the Eastern Seaboard.

    The food in Fitzpatricks is mediocre, the service is poor and it is way over priced. Then you have the smell, I don't know how anyone sits outside the place.
    In my opinion Ghan House is head and shoulders above everything else in Co Louth, pricey but worth it.

    Where's Ghan house I haven't heard of it ?

    I was in Fitzpatricks a while ago and tried to order a steak without onions
    Waitress looked at me as if I just ordered crack cocaine on it .
    Took two attempts and when it finally arrived my companions had finished their deserts , so I didn't bother with it .

    Mc Donald's drive thru got the order right first time on the way home .
    Fitzpatricks could learn a thing or two about customer service from them .

    Finally, someone who relates :D
    Any restaurant I've said this to either does a double take or ignores the request, so I have had to take to saying I'm allergic in the hope that it sinks in! Plus, there are tonnes of foods that have onions in it, and its not listed on the menu! Anyway, rant over.

    My favourite would be Eastern Seaboard (book days before) and D'Vine both Drogheda

    Nosh in Ardee for light lunch or delicious set menu meals on Thur/Fri/Sat - used to be Rolf's Bistro - Rolf is back there cooking ... delicious and different without being pricey ... different but classy.

    Brilliant for an overnight stay in Carlingford and a few pints later in the village. Breakfast is class

    Surprised Scholar's in Drogheda didn't get a mention yet. Agree that Magee's and Fushia House are also excellent and consistent

    Only been in Ghan House once & thought was very ordinary. Not bad just a meal could have had anywhere. Stay away from Windsor in Dundalk. Only thing on menu is steak and chicken, very very ordinary.

    I'd definitely recommend Darver Castle: Nice food, good price, great athmosphere!!

    Hubby also suffers from onion allergy, and they never make a problem of specifically cooking something to his request!

    you might be thinking on no.32?

    Lovely littel place and very reasonably priced. Not 5 star by any stretch of the imagination but the food is lovely and if you get in at the right times you can find yourself having the place to yourself for a nice intimate candle lit dinner.

    The staff are very polite too and more importantly they are genuine, which goes a long way imo
