Haven't got any to go, so anybody.......

Never noticed the lack of E in cable. Must be both sides too. There used to be another one above Balscadden Bay beside the Martello Tower until sometime in the 80's.

Think there's the ghost of an E on my photo.

If no one else minds, where and what is this?

Spot on. Taken just over 10 years ago. Still have hopes of being able to point to the top and saying to my grandchild "I touched that". Only problem is no sign of a grandchild!

Great! I don't have to watch this thread all day. Yes that's them.

As with the Dáil chamber picture a few days ago, RDS is a correct answer, just a century too late.

I think it is probably Radley as SIAC Radley were the main contractors according to my little book on the Spire.

    Here's a threesome:

3 is Howth Harbour, end of East Pier, behind old lighthouse.

    I knew it looked familiar!

1 & 3 correct. I love the curve of the granite at the lighthouse and the memories of climbing up there as a kid.
    Any takers on 2?

That's it. Photo taken a few years ago from the Royal Canal towpath. It always intrigued me.

Are Howth and Sutton Cross deemed to be within the city limits? (in reference to previous photos)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,700 ✭✭✭tricky D

They have been before in the previous thread. Besides Howth is a bit of a grey area in the Dublin forums, but much more often is handled in City as opposed to County North. You could argue that the Clonsilla pic should be covered by Dublin 15 forum, but the matter doesn't seem to bother most posters.

    Is Howth not D13?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,700 ✭✭✭tricky D

No straight answer to that question, even from the local post office. We've always used county for our address.

Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa. I thought the Spire might have made up for the rambles in D13 & 15.

By the way, has anyone figured out which building has featured most here?

An easy (and relatively central) one in the meantime seeing as no one else is posting photos.

Bit of the Grand Canal theatre?

Bit of the Grand Canal theatre?

Not when I last checked but close.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,331 ✭✭✭earlyevening

really is very similar to the GC theatre or the buildings right beside it facing Macken Street. Must have a closer look tomorrow when walking by.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,285 ✭✭✭Mercian Pro

The building right beside the GC (of BGE!) Theatre it is. Official name is 1 Grand Canal Square and it faces onto the Square and the Basin.
Hope you have a photo ready!

Knew it was in that vicinity.

I dont have a pic. Have spotted a few suitable things I'd like to put up here but never get around to it. (They'd probably be guessed in 2 secs anyway).

Can somebody else go ahead and I'll get onto it at the weekend.
