Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was getting stick there for not letting my thread die. Is it bad etiquette to keep your threads in the first page by posting in them when they start to die off? What are other instances of terrible boards etiquette? Best answer gets a slap straight in the soup cooler.

There's one general rule that if adhered to you'll find will serve you well.

    1. Don't be a dick.

You know what, apply that to life as well.

Wash your hands before and after.

Well say if you were in a conversation with someone and said, "Abortion - for or against?", and they weren't that interested and shrugged it off. Then, later, when you were discussing what you got up to for the weekend, and you said, "Yeah Saturday night was crazy. So what about abortion then?"

The other person would consider you quite annoying for doing so.

So that's generally a good rule of thumb.

Nope. And btw the rolleyes smiley is bad etiquette. There is absolutely no situation you can use it in where you don't look like a complete tosser.

I agree, I love the roll eyes smiley. I think it just conveys sarcasm and don't understand why people find it so offensive.

Yes. It's equivalent to continuing to try to talk to someone about something they're clearly not interested in talking about.

I don't get this, who cares if your thread is dying off, what difference does it make if you start a busy, popular thread or one that no one has any interest in? What does it achieve?

Do you really care that much about what people think of you online regarding letting threads die?

Go back over all the threads you started and simply post 'bump'. Nobody minds if you do it that way.:)

Yeah man just want more attention, good or bad haha

I prefer my threads to die off naturally instead of being artificially resuscitated by me. I started one thread that simply wouldn't die (1,228 Replies - 43,325 Views) and every time I saw it on the front page of AH I got the vomit reflex.

The mods killed it in the end bless 'em.

Why do you hate your boards children man? And what was the big long thread about? I might put one up like that just rehash so it looks like my own

Writing "ha ha" at the end of a post is also bad form.

If your post is funny, you won't need to signal it in that way lol.

Why do you hate your boards children man?

I don't hate them I just want them to 'leave home' when they mature.
And what was the big long thread about?

The big long thread was about hitting kids and whether it's acceptable or not (let's not go there). It's a polarised issue so there is no ending to the debate.
I might put one up like that just rehash so it looks like my own

It happens naturally anyway. Many of the same issues resurface every so often among them being..

    The Death penalty.
    Abortion.
    Drugs.
    Dole scroungers.
    Americans are dumb.
    Crime.

    S'all in the game yo.
