Im renting and I only have a small fridge with an ice box. Im spending more on shopping because food is goin out of date that I would normally freeze.
Is an ice box a suitable substitute for a landlord to put in or is he required to supply me with one.
Its looking like its gonna cost me 120+ for a freezer that Will probably be too much hassle to bring with me when the lease is up.
Anyone know where I stand on this, or even a cheap place to pick up a bargain :-)

There are obligations for landlords to provide certain facilities, which includes "(c) Fridge and freezer or fridge-freezer,". An ice-box is not considered a freezer.

Talk to your landlord, the might be quite willing to help.

say it to the LL, i think these days an ice box would be considered insufficent.

I imagine OP refers to an under counter fridge with a tiny freezer compartment. I think this is sufficient for a fridge-freezer legally.

However if there is space, the LL may be amenable to get a large FF, but I don't think he is obligated to.

This is exactly why I got my own 2nd hand fridge-freezer (through Adverts.ie). Those ice-boxes aren't worth a damn.

I did read a while back that landlords must provide a proper, seperate freezer along with a fridge, instead of just the afterthought of an icebox. The catch is: If a property has been let for rent at any time between 1 September 2004 and 31 January 2009 it doesn’t have to meet the new standards for sanitary, heating, laundry, food preparation and storage facilities until 1 February 2013. So currently landlords don't have to provide a seperate freezer but they will soon.

Something like this fridge freezer will be perfectly adequate, with a seperate door for the freezer compartment.
