it could be that you are being punched as well as kicked!!:)

:) I've felt most of my movement v low even when one baby was head down and then when both were transverse. Last night I felt kicks (or punches) up much higher and today back down low. Doc says they move around the whole time. Although I'm sure my two might run out of space soon!!

Just back from the hospital from my checkup in cardiology. My heart condition has worsened, and will have to see some specialist from dublin, dunno what that means now for my pregnancy delivery options and for afterwards. They mention some type of intervention after i give birth. All a wee bit worrying. I was hoping it would all be ok. I guess ill just have to see how it all pans out, just as long as baby is ok ill be happy.

Oh dear, that does sound a bit worrying but better that they're keeping an eye on it and making sure you and baby are ok.

Is the specialist in a maternity hospital or a normal one? My mum has a heart condition and when pregnant on my younger brother had to see a special consultant in Holles Street because of it. She said in a way it was great because even though she went public she never had to queue, and also after a difficult birth with me she knew she was being looked after :)

Hey murdy He said im being referred to some cardiac specialist from the mather hospital.he used to have a clinic here in cork but lots of stuff have gone due to cutbacks. I am already in the high risk category in maternity hospital. Also may get an mri as the rest of the tests have risks of radiation. All a bit mind boggling tbh, i mean just having a baby is a stressful journey no mind the thoughts of other things. Yeah at least they will keep an eye on me.

That's a pain that you'll have to travel to Dublin, isn't it? If you ever want to meet someone for a coffee while you're up let me know anyway - I'm off work from the end of the week :)

It must be really stressful, just look after yourself. You're right pregnancy is hard enough without complications!

awh thanks murdy your very kind. Are you feeling a bit better this afternoon?

As for baby positions, all babies dance move kicks are down low.

Sounds stressful and worrying Sunshiner. But at least they're keeping a close eye on you. What a shame you have to travel to Dublin though. Look after yourself xx

Just out of hospital appointment, saw the doctor for about 4 minutes! Still everything is well and I am eligible for midwife led care so my other appointments will be with a midwife unless something goes wrong. I didn't have to wait too long either. Appointment was at 8am and I was out of there at 8.45am.

Only thing is doctor said they are definitely updating my due date to 24th June so now I'm 21+1 not 22+1. I know there's nothing I can do about it but I'd much prefer to be a week further along!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 960 ✭✭✭Blueskye

That 's cool about midwife led care but not so great being put back a week. I know I was delighted to be put forward a week at first scan. Felt I was a little step closer to the finish line. Sorry Murdy. But he may come early yet.

I'm with doc this morn too. Not really looking forward to these injections...

I know, it sucks but sure babies come when they are ready anyway so nothing I can do about it. I think I just need to change my dates in my head and not think of myself as 22 weeks. I've updated the app on my iphone with the new date.

Good luck at doctor and I'm sure the injections will be fine, close your eyes and grip on to something. It'll be good for the babies little lungs :)

Thanks ladies for the nice words.

Thats great news murdy, Its nice being seen so quickly. Good luck with the injections blueskye just think of something nice.

Havent had any progress with the nursery but i did get a cute aztec style rug for the babys room, very colourful.

    Hows everyone feeling today?

Glad your appointment went well Murdy.. Sunshiner, hope you are OK! That's very stressful for you. Hopefully your appointment with the specialist will go well and they can take away some of your worries. Mind yourself..

And Blueskye, the injections will be over before you know it, do these ones have any side effect on you other than the general unpleasantness that goes with getting a jab?

I'm bollocksed, have had a week full of really painful nights. Getting to the stage I'm dreading going to bed, the pain is like crying worthy. Think I need to build up a bit of rest again, although I'm not doing particularly a lot.

Started knitting which I actually find is quite good mentally to clear out the mind a bit.. Making a baby blanket. Had started knitting little squares I was going to sew together but I hate casting stitches on so I got tired of that. Just going to do it in three large sections and sew.

  • Registered Users Posts: 438 ✭✭sunshiner

oh no krankykitty that sounds awful. Did the doctor recommend any positions for sleeping? would sleeping in a recline chair help?

the blanket sounds really nice, what colours are you going to do?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭MurdyWurdy

Oh Krankykitty - that sounds awful. Maybe taking some time off for a rest is a good idea? It helped last time, didn't it? I'm really learning recently how important resting up is :)

Love that you're knitting too - it is really relaxing, isn't it? Aknitter kindly sent me some patterns for little boy tops so I'm going to get the wool next week and get stuck into it. A blanket sounds like a lovely idea!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,518 ✭✭✭krankykitty

They recommend sleeping on side with pillow between the knees, only problem is that will set the hip off after a while, then I turn, and then the same thing on the opposite side! No drug doesn't help either. Think I will need a little bit of rest to try and get it back to some sort of manageable, although I only really got 2 painful but bearable weeks from the week off work.

Knitting the blanket in white wool that has a shiny thread going through it, and I've bought little pink satin rosebuds and ribbon from Ebay to decorate it. Doing it in "little shell" stitch which is easy but looks a bit lacy. Doing it in panels as I can't hack casting on a hundred and odd stitches, as I often have to go back when I make a mistake. Will just use it to stick down the end of the cot for decoration, and then she can use it for her dollies when she's older, if she's in to that sort of toy :)

Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time krankykitty. Hopefully some rest might help?

Another scan this morning, all looks great. They were moving around A LOT in there!!! :D I think I've had 6 or 7 scans now and can see them taking up a lot more of my belly. They weigh 1lb 6oz and 1lb 7oz which is great for identicals, sharing nicely. Doc said they tend to keep a similar position, one fella rests his head on the other guy all the time, so they stay very close. Doc said it'll be interesting to see how they lie together when they are born. She had a 3d probe today but couldn't get a decent pic because they were moving around so much. Arms and legs everywhere!!

Injections need to be 12 hours apart so I'm going to go in for one Saturday morning and one Saturday night. Sounds relatively easy, no major side effects so worry over nothing.

24+1 today, so a milestone achieved :) They're viable now but hopefully stay in for another while yet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭MurdyWurdy

Great that the babies are doing so well! Great weight on them :) At our scan last week we were told baby is about 350g (12oz) so can't imagine having two babies in me that are well over 1 lb!

According to my app between 22 and 26 weeks the babies weight doubles so I guess as you're 24 weeks they're growing fast and turning into little chubsters :)

I expect to get a good bit bigger over the next few weeks after reading that. At the hospital today I was very conscious that I was the least pregnant woman there by a long shot. Everyone else looked like they were about to give birth and there was me with my teeny tiny bump. I was jealous!

Thats great stuff two healthy twins Blueskye!

Murdy, I was the same I had little or no bump then at 24 weeks I just popped! Especially at nighttime I look huge. I look pregnant now rather than a bit of a belly.

Sumshiner that sounds so rough, but at least the road to Dublin is a motorway most of the way now and all the towns are bypassed so it won't take as long.

Krankykitty - are you going for physio? I have the same thing and went for physio and it has helped a lot - I am going to town shopping tomorrow with my 14 year old and can't wait something I could not even consider last week. I know the appointment takes a while and if you are going to CUMH you GP has to refer you but it will be worth it (after about 2 days when the pain from the realingnment goes!:)).
But heres a big shout out to finally looking pregnant and not that I have let myself get a muffin top!! :)

If anyone wants some patterns I can send them on but patonsyarns.com have some good ones online, free and downloadable, you have to sign up but they don't send too much in the way of emails.

WYB as i was typing this I got a call from the hospital and I have a kidney infection, have to go to the GP for anitbiotics, she said - "are you having any pain?" I said "I have Pelvic Girdle pain and everything hurts down there!!"

Hi Aknitter - yes, I'm getting physio every week the past 6 weeks or so, it seems to give a bit of relief for a day (or a few days if lucky) but then back to the usual. I find that unless I'm having a bad day, I'm quite able to move about and feel "loose" enough, but if I actually take advantage of that and walk around more than usual, it's crying type pain for me during the night and possibly a few more nights/days on top of that. I am just getting my head around how much walking around is "too much" - it's incredibly little compared to normal! Glad you were feeling good after the physio, were you OK after your shopping trip?

I'm really a novice knitter so I'm always on the look out for something that isn't too complicated, I'm a bit afraid of a cardigan! Thanks for the website, I'll have a browse on that..

So sorry to hear you're still in plain guys. KK - have you thought anymore about taking a little rest from work? After feeling horrific on Monday I felt quite good today and yesterday. I'm worried now that I'm perking up and will have given up work for nothing! Still, I'm sure there'll be plenty more days where I fill like crap and am pukey. Just today and tomorrow to get through and I'm done!! :D

How's everyone else this morning? I went shopping last night and got a few baby things, plus I discovered H & M do maternity stuff so got a really lovely pair of bright pink skinny jeans for €20 - I felt like I was buying normal clothes again! and I bought a lovely fitted knitted top. The stuff was nice enough. I also bought one of those horseshoe pillows - it's duck feather and was reduced from €78 to €23 in House of Fraser. Bargain! Had to buy a maternity swimsuit too so I can start swimming next week - feel a bit whaleish in it :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 438 ✭✭sunshiner

you must be so excited murdy to be finished.H&M have really nice stuff, i was in there a few weeks ago. Its much more affordable than say debenhams. I got a beautiful blank and white leggings in there reminded me of the 90s. :D

Girls my bump is huge! Stretch marks have appeared already under my bump the other half kindly pointed it out so i could slap on the argan oil.
So what are ye ladies using for moisturising the auld skin? Some good news i passed my driving test yesterday so that was cool.

    How are all ye ladies?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭MurdyWurdy

Yay - congrats on the driving test, that's great news!!

I use bio oil on my belly but also use the cocoa butter sometimes too because I have really dry skin and sometimes the bio oil doesn't satisfy the itchy bump! I have noticed the skin on my face being even drier than normal so I presume it's a hormonal thing.

Also, our baba and boo resuable nappies arrived and I just love them! Really impressed with their customer service and delivery and they look great. Really hope they work out now once they are actually being used.

The cat would not let me try one on him though :(

Normally he's pretty passive and you can do what you want with him (like wrap him up in wrapping paper at Christmas) but maybe he sensed the nappies were going to be used on his competition so wasn't having any of it! :D

    ha ha, wise cat!!

I found some great stuff in H&M a while back but the last few times I've popped in I haven't been able to find anything, it was all the same old stock. The Cork one had a better selection. Must have another look, wearing the same old stuff at the mo.

I use bio oil mainly. Great stuff. I find my face has gotten dry too, I've been putting bio oil on my face every second night and silcock's base (like acqueous cream but thicker) on my face in the morning and it seems to be doing the trick.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭MurdyWurdy

Hmm, the Silcock's base sounds interesting - sitting here at work and my face feels like a lizard. It's in a bad way so I need to step up what I'm using methinks.

My manager is off tomorrow so just had to say goodbye now - why is that always so awkward?!!

It's really cheap, you get it in the chemist, big white tub. Great stuff. Just takes a few mins to soak in so you do look like a ghost until then.

Wow 1 day left. Must have been strange. Still, a new chapter for you :)
