I love the name cedric - are you a harry potter fan by any chance?

Star Trek was good, it was all action and I'm a bit of a nerd but there were a few plot holes, the characters motivations were not detailed enough. Other than that it was good to get out but I am sore today.

I an actually a huge Harry Potter fan but the pillow is named after a character in The Wire (we were watching it when I bought the pillow!)

I thought there were a few plot holes too but I'm not allowed criticise sci films with my hubby. He's really into it all and gets annoyed when I say how ridiculous some things are! I just went along for the popcorn :)

My hubby really wants to go see star trek too- I'm not that keen but maybe I'll go along with him so he gets to see it. It's unlikely we'll be going to any films when babog is little.

I love the Wire! Watched the first few seasons of it but couldn't watch it during exams (this was a few years ago) so didn't get to see the rest. My brother and I call Cedric Skeletor. :)

I have a crocodile stuffed toy thing from IKEA that we use for a draught excluder, his name is Harold. :D It's fun naming things that you don't need to worry about how they'll be perceived socially by their peers....

I loved the Wire, great show. We're watching Breaking Bad now (starting series 3) and I was looking at Skylar going around at 8 month pregnant in these 4 inch heels and you just know a man was in charge of wardrobe!!

Paperclip, some seats in the cinema are ultra comfortable. Might be worth a go if you are sore

Cinema might be a nice idea paperclipgrad, do it while you can! We name everything in our house, all our appliances and things :) the dishwasher is called Phyllis! I couldn't get into breaking bad, just wasn't feeling it. We're watching all the series if ER at the moment, there's 15 series and we're up to season 8!

My massage was lovely. They had a specialist pregnant lady massage table so it had cutout spaces for your bump and boobs. It was a full body massage front and back and really helped. It was in the La Stampa hotel on Dawson st if any of you in Dublin are interested or ever want to get a pressie for a pregnant lady.

Even though the massage was nice I'm uncomfortable again already. I have really strong period type pains that are fairly constant and it's not nice, especially when added to the back and bump ache and heartburn! Fingers crossed I don't wake up at 4am tomorrow again. Really feel like I need to moan, urgh!

Hey all, hope you're all doing good...

I typed up a big detailed post last night at about 3am about my c section experience in case it would help anyone else who was doing that, but its a load of morphine and pain induced jibber jabber! It kept me busy for a bit!

That period pain thing sounds awful - is it Braxton hicks?

It must be! Can't think what else it would be. It's not contractions or anything like that because it's kind if full and there all the time.

I really want to see your morphine induced post now! :) go on, for the laugh!

It's actually really boring a load of waffle!

I was thinking of you all this morning eating my runny poached eggs. Not long now :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 365 ✭✭paperclipgrad

You're just making me want to read it even more. :) Post it up!!

Yummy KK runny poached eggs!!! Well deserved after everything so hope you enjoyed. How's the Lil babs doing today? Tell me to mind my own business if u like but are you breast feeding? Just interested to see how that's going. Also wondered when you are on morphine are you allowed? Really hope you are feeling much better today.

Here comes a moan everyone- I CANNOT sleep. My back is just so sore around my shoulder blades. Also right in the base of my spine, in the very centre every time I move I hear a massive, loud crack. It's the strangest feeling but not overly sore. Anyone else? While I'm moaning- by 7pm every evening I can hardly stand up with the pressure/ strain below. Head hasn't engaged yet so what will it be like when it does!?! Ok rant over.
Hope you are all well and got a good sleep.

I'm the same DoubleB, just cannot sleep. It takes ages for me to drop off and then I wake up every hour or so. I just hurt all over! Can't believe I could possibly have 6 weeks of this if baby goes overdue. I keep telling him he can come out whenever he wants now! I 'm doing nothing today but resting, was out most if yesterday which didn't help

I would love some runny poached eggs! Thanks for having them for me anyway :)

Oh dear, god love ye, rest is the only to help the back pain. I've learnt the hard way - only do what you can when you can and feck the rest of the time. To distract myself while laid up I started a little project, so I don't feel so useless! :) I bought a scanner for old photo negatives a while ago and I am slowly scanning all my old photos and uploading then to the cloud. Its actually a big job but I think I have most of the photos done from when our oldest was a baby (sweet mother of god 14 years ago!)

I've had those period pains too - did anyone else notice the almost full moon last night - my money is that is the cause. I used to work in Retail of various types and all the crazies are out at this time of the month.....just a theory!

Off to specsavers to get them to fix my glasses after the 2 year old knocked them off my face, again! My fault really but what can I say, I need more kisses! :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 365 ✭✭paperclipgrad

aknitter, you could wear contacts or get those bendable glasses-my sister had them and her kids could not snap them as much as they tried!

Date night tonight! Looking forward to dressing up and feeling pretty even with my massive belly in the way. I'd love to take a bath, but I can't stand my breasts/bump rising out of the water like little islands and getting all cold...how do ye deal with that??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭MurdyWurdy

I just alternate bending my knees and straightening them so sometimes my knees are cold and sometimes my bump. I also have really deep baths! There are advantages to being a shortarse sometimes :)

Actually not as sore today, last night I honestly thought there was no way I'd sleep but I'm not as zombie like this morning so I guess I must have slept ok in the end. I'm still doing nothing today. Screw the vacuuming! I have my sort of baby shower on Sunday afternoon so have to start the baking tomorrow. I was going to go out to Tesco today but I'm doing an online shop instead. Screw it! I joined the Tesco babyclub and got a voucher for 10EUR off an online shop if you spend more than 60EUR so I'll just use that.

I'm sorry aknitter but I laughed at the glasses thing - of course you need kisses! So worth it :)

I'm with you on that today, Murdy- I plan on resting as much as possible so that I have enough energy left over for this evening! Tesco delivery sounds great, I keep meaning to do that but never get around to it for some reason...

Debating whether or not to wear heels tonight....my suspicion is that my back would hate it. Maybe my boots with little heels would do instead? The last time I wore heels was on St. Valentine's day and my back complained the whole next day, but we did go to Bunratty Castle for the banquet!! There's a bit of a walk to the castle and then the spiral staircases. My bump was only little then, not gigantic like it is now!

Not loving the three steps it takes to turn over in bed...stomach muscles pretty much useless these days!

I'd say avoid the heels - I tried to wear some the other day and it wasn't pleasant afterwards! You want to be comfortable for your nice date night :)

Yep - who would have thought turning over would ever be a monumental task, you really have to think about if you want to do it or not!

Yeah, this morning the hip I was lying on was hurting and I was thinking if it hurt enough to warrant the effort to turn over! Going for walks, everything just seems to take soooo much more effort than usual. I wonder does it just go away after birth? Or is there a reacclimatizing period?

I got a contraction timer app for my phone actually - it's really good! It's a free one.

I just called Tony Kealy's about picking up our travel system. I was due to collect on the 9th but want to go on the 2nd instead. Lucky I called them, they had my collection date down as the 9th July instead of 9th June and the baby better fecking be here for 9th July! Luckily they had what we ordered in stock so they just put it aside for me, I would not have been impressed if they couldn't get it!

Really looking forward to getting it and trying to wheel the cat around in it to test it out :p

Bendy glasses sound great, do you know where she got them? Yes kisses were worth it but it was the raspberries on the belly that really did the damage!

I'd avoid heels aswell, no point in being in bits the day after. In the bath you could have faceclothes to lay over any exposed areas which you can re wet as needed - and bring your phone in with you and don't lock the door - just in case you find it difficult to get out of the bath!

Murdy, I would so like to see a photo of your cat in the buggy, with a bonnet too if you have one. I've a nice photo of my fella with the cat, will see if I can get it up on facebook later.

Lynda, let us know how you get on, the heat in those places is wicked.

Has anyone tried a gym ball for the back pain? They are great

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭MurdyWurdy

oh Lynda - hope everything is ok and you're not too hot in there, it's a warm day. I guess with you having a headache they need to check your blood pressure etc to make sure everything is ok. Better to be safe anyway!

I am also counting down the days just praying I don't go overdue! I'm due in 31 days and when you put it like that it sounds really scary :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 304 ✭✭lynda18

Thanks all seems ok was monitored for hour and heartbeat and movement ok just tiny bit high but hav wait now see doctor!
All visitors coming in excited to see babies can't wait for to be us :)

That's great news - glad all is ok. You must have got an awful fright.

I'm convinced baby is still breech - will know Monday for sure with my next appointment. I'll be 36+3 then and Holles st give till 37 before referring to breech clinic so we'll have to see what happens over the next week.

Time is going so slowly though - hubby was off this week which helped - but I can't wait for it now - so sick of being pregnant - it's getting tough with the 14 month old - at least the 4 year old doesn't need lifting! But I went to 42 weeks on both of mine so if I have this baby in June I'll be happy - those 41st and 42nd weeks are horrendous!!

Anyway, can't wait for monday's appointment - I hate the uncertainty of now knowing what's going to happen and if I'll need a section etc.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭MurdyWurdy

God, I really don't want to go to 42 weeks - I'm 35 + 4 and already fed up enough! At least if the baby is breech and can't be turned you'll get a c section and go at 39ish weeks. Every cloud and all that!

What makes you think the baby is breech? Is it where you're feeling kicks etc?

oh yeah - there really is nothing worse. I'm hoping that if the baby is breech they'll section me before 39 weeks - i'm going to ask anyway. I'm having severe back pain and with the size of the baby (6lbs 14oz 2 weeks ago) that they acknowledge that she's unlikely to turn and therefore there's no point hanging around extra weeks. At 37 weeks they're considered term anyway and i'm hoping that because it's my 3rd they might book me in earlier than 39 weeks (we're also moving house at the end of the month!) but of course - all depends on if I get a doctor with empathy or not!!

I think she's still definitely breech because of the movements - it feels like real little kicks down below and the head seems to be rolling up under my boobs if that makes sense. It feels too hard to be a bum in comparison to what I had before. Also, I was never breech on the boys and the pelvic pressure I had on them was far worse. It's also harder to bend over - like i'm bending over the head so it's harder than bending over legs! Also, I haven't felt any major movement like the baby turning - I've had movement but nothing like apparently what you feel when the baby turns. That said, a mum I know had a baby breech at 35 weeks and then at 37 weeks the baby turned and she didn't feel a thing! it's all guesswork of course which is why I can't wait for my appointment!! I really have no idea - I could pontificate forever!!

Sunday sounds lovely about the baby shower - I can barely find energy for a shower - never mind a baby shower!! it'll be lovely though - and keeping busy is so important! This is definitely the worst stage - I swear someone slows down time!!

Highly- agreed someone is slowing time down alright. i couldn't imagine going to 42 weeks - I was annoyed that the 2nd fella was 1 day early and didn't come sooner! I feel your pain about lifting the 14 month old. I was told not to life my fella but its just unavoidable and the trying to get down to pick up toys is a nightmare, but you can't leave them there as there is a real risk you'll fall over them. Is the 4 year old excited about a new sister?
