Recommend a good DSL/Router?

I decided to push the boat out and buy what I considered to be a good router.

Bought on amazon for around 100£. Got it yesterday loaded it up but it came with old firmware. Went to Asus site and downloaded a new firmware. Ran it and the router is bricked, can't access via cable or wirelessly. All the reset options fail. It's on its way back to amazon today but now I have to decide on another router.

My budget is the same as before and I would like the ability to install a bit torrent client. Would prefer just one unit, ADSL Modem+Router rather than having to plug router into DSL modem...

Any recommendations?

I like Netgear stuff, I have the cable router equivalent of this and it's great:

The price is about the same as the ASUS and similar specs, both are N600 dual-band routers with sharing, multimedia streaming, and NAS via USB.

Thanks. I actually managed to get the Asus back. They provide a utility if you have a bad flash. Reflashed with the same firmware and its working now. Guess time will tell how it performs.

Yeah. I soft-bricked my WNDR3700 but I had already been told that I could use TFTP to re-flash it if it all went wrong. Thankfully the ASUS has a utility for the same.
