Lazy punditry. He's a class defender. His positioning makes up for his lack of pace. You'd swear he was being skinned every week the way they talk of him. How many times this season, in 7 league games for Arsenal, has his lack of pace led to a goal? Its less than 1, there's a clue.

As Didi Hamann said this is the best German team in twenty years. It's also the worst Irish team in twenty years. Just a shame the players made so many individual mistakes.

We were absolute muck, this team plays with no passion or purpose and it has disgraced the performances of previous Irish teams.

That German team are excellent but even Stauntons Ireland would have put up a better fight against them. Trappatoni has to go.
