Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

Would anyone be interested in a photo walk around Howth Sunday 14-10?

I'm thinking about getting there 30 minutes before the hour of power. This will give us time to meet each other and take a few snaps in good light before the sun starts to set.Let me know what you think below. All are welcome!!
Sorry title should say 14-10 SUNDAY!!!!!!

Just had a look at the weather not looking great at the minute WEEKEND: Saturday will probably start dry, but widespread rain is likely to develop later on Saturday, and the rain is likely to continue for much of Sunday.I will keep an eye on it.Also Im thinking about meeting up in the main public car park just at the pier.We could start right at the pier and walk around there?.Where would people like to end up for sun set? at the end of the pier might not be great was we will just see the sea and nothing else. All suggestions welcome!! map for parking http://goo.gl/maps/l8hhW

just looking on Google maps if we get on top of the hill looking down over the harbor might be the best place to finish? http://goo.gl/maps/8vkTH

If you go before sunset there's a nice view from howth head (walking shoes recommended)

sadly (for me) I won't be joining you all on this photowalk, the bus timetable is really bad on sundays. Hope you all have fun

I'm in. it will be my first photo walk. so go easy on me. :)

please don't ridicule me if this is a silly question , what time exactly is 30 min before the Hour of power? ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,637 ✭✭✭✭OldGoat

The golden hour for photographers is the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset. At these times the light quality is at it's best. Nice little online calculator here.
This says that the time for sunset on Sunday is 18:30, so the golden hour is 17:30(ish) therefore 30 minutes before is...da dan dannnn...5 o'clock. :)

Thanks alot for the offer, I wouldn't be sure until Sunday if I'm going. I'd be in Lucan or Blanchardstown at the time. I just got a 50mm lense and would really love to try it out. My mechanic is calling over soon so I'll know more later.
