    Hi there
Would anyone have any experience with applying for a graduate visa for a year to work in the states but getting refused?
Trying to find out if it's still possible to travel there having been refused - as a tourist and within the allotted 90days for a tourist visa.
Would anyone know if a refusal to a work visa would result in getting refused as a tourist also?
    Thanks!

AFAIK it would purely be on a case to case basis. If you can prove that you have every intention in leaving the country after your vacation and no intention in staying illegally, you could be ok, however there are so many factors to take into account that one person's story could be the exact opposite of how yours could carry out. The most uncontrollable of things, like the mood of the officer you speak to on the day at the airport, can change whether you get into the country or get sent home. Unfortunately, you can't guarantee this until you arrive at immigration.

Always consider that immigration in the US are trained to view every person trying to gain entry to the country as a threat and you have to prove them otherwise.

    Hi

If you have been denied a visa - you are not allowed to travel on the visa waiver - you will need to go the embassy and get a B visa to visit.

    From the travel.state website:
If you have previously been denied (refused) a visa, or have been found ineligible for a U.S. visa, you do not meet VWP requirements and therefore, cannot travel on the VWP.
