I heard some business owners speaking about this on the radio - they own small shops on North Main Street- it was really heartbreaking to hear- so wrong. Cork City Centre should be thriving, vibrant and business should be encouraged and excited to trade here- but the reality is so different- parking is so expensive and the number of businesses that have ceased trading on Patrick Street makes it feel dead and depressed.
If the City Council decide to raise rates while increasing parking charges....there is no hope for the small, quirky traders, craftspeople and restaurants - the things that make a city, feel like a town.

Commercial rates up 1.25%. Parking in Paul Street car park up 30c an hour. €70k cut from the Glow Christmas budget. Very poor for business.

Is Paul Street free from 6 to 9 for Glow?

Don't think so. Free parking initiative ended 19th November.
